My experience watching Pac spar with Porter

    firstly i have been to the Mayweather boxing club and the wild card gym couple of times and those experience have been really great.its really amazing to see these great fighters put in their work alot of people think you just need talent but these guys put in alot of work in and it shows in there respective performances.

    i was in Los Angeles and decided to pay a visit at the wild card gym (Pac had a fight with Cotto coming up) getting in was not that easy but Freddy was really friendly and let me and my brother in to watch Pac lucky for us that day Pac was sparring with Shawn Porter it was the best sparring i seen and i have seen many sparring sessions in my time (this is not a understatement)

    When the bell sounded these to guys went at it full force Pac knocked down Shawn 2 times Shawn gritted his teeth and took it and got right back up and landed a big hook which got Mannys attention you could feel that this kid had what it took to become champion i have seen Pac spar quiet alot and i have never seen a sparing partner take it to Pac like that although porter was getting really beat up you have to consider he was still young and with no experience.

    After the session a crowd gathered round porter congratulating him for giving a good account of himself Manny himself said to Shawn that he would become champion i will never forget that day and to see porter coming along nicely really makes me happy for the kid he is very humble.

    Anyways, what a great story, since i've read about Manny's spar with Porter in the past, i believe it.

    I have heard similar stories as well, I believe you, thank you for sharing. Porter is a good kid, his Dad did a great job taking him to different gyms to get solid work in.

    I've met Porter and his father once myself and they were very nice and down to earth at the time, though it was very early in Shawn's pro career. The main issue Shawn will have going forward is simply whether or not he develops better defense or continues to rely on his athleticism and chin. Right now, he basically has a poor man's Shane Mosley type style where he is there to be hit, but his fast, rugged offensive style and good chin is his defense.

    i'm calling bull****. unless you're a celebrity or part of one of the camps/sparring partners....they don't let anyone into pacs sparring sessions.

    the story is a lie.

    they stop letting regular ppl in for pac sparring after the first morales fight. if you weren't tied to the camp, a sparring partner...or trainer for one of the sparring partners...or media...u don't get in. period. freddie doesn't invite anyone in. media has been turned away as well.
