“Bring yo ass, Tyrone.” — Tyrone Trice had called out James Toney at one of the USA Network Tuesday Night Fights at the Palace at Auburn Hills. James climbed into the ring, spoke these words and dropped the mic. Tyrone, to my knowledge, never brought his ass.

“He can run but he can’t hide.” — The immortal Joe Louis called it before his fight with Billy Conn.

“It’s not something you learn in school, but if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you haven’t learned anything.” — Muhammad Ali

“Stop all elephant caravans. … The man want out!” — Muhammad Ali at a press conference when his fight with George Foreman was postponed after George was cut in sparring, telling people to be on guard at airports and to patrol the borders to keep Foreman from leaving the country lest the fight never happen. (Both camps stayed in Zaire until the fight happened, so I guess they kept George from slipping out in an elephant caravan.)

"I'm sorry I beat you but I need the money."

Rafael Herrera after defeating Ruben Olivares. An honest quote of a man who is fighting just to get by in life.

"I’ve wrestled with alligators, I've tussled with a whale
I done handcuffed lightning and throw thunder in jail
Just last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalized a brick.
I’m so mean, I make medicine sick" - Muhammad Ali

    Tyson again, on fear:

"(Fear) is like a snap, a little snap of light I get when I fight. I love that feeling. It makes me feel secure and confidant, it suddenly makes everything explosive. It's like: 'Here it comes again. Here's my buddy today."

If a guy like Tyson is afraid when he's dealing with someone who will harm him, it gives me some comfort that it's not just me in those situations - being able to conquer it, and perform, is always another matter.

Cornerman (I think it was Mickey Duff) to Lloyd Honeyghan between rounds when he was getting beaten down by Marlon Starling:

    “Make yourself scarce.”

Not sure exactly what that translates to technically, but, well, it didn’t work.

Angelo Dundee to Ray Leonard in the first Hearns fight:

“You’re blowing it now, son. You’re blowing it.”

One of my favorite dialogues was between the 5th and 6th round of the Evander Holyfield v Alex Stewart fight. I really laughed at the dialogue between Holyfield and Georgie Benton after the 5th round where Stewart was landing haymakers on Holyfield and Holy wasn't ducking or dodging them:

Benton: "Do you know what you're doing?"
    Holyfield: "Yes."
Benton: "Well don't do it anymore."
