It is an unessessary and risky fight for Rios. Alvarado is no joke. That being said, I think Rios will stop might in 8 or less. It should be an entertaining war until then.
Brandon knows he was weight drained and did not look good in the Abril fight. He thought while awaiting the decision that he may have lost the fight. His corner never did. They felt, and I think correctly, that Abril held and ran too much to win. I hated the Abril vs Rios fight. Abril's actions and the Ref's failure to stop the holding made a great potential bout boring. I and most of the people in the place watching the bout thought that Rios may have lost simply because he look so unlike himself. Abril's style and lack of desire to engage his opponent in the ring makes him unwatchable in my opinion. After ther first powershot Rios landed Abril went into a shell and started using illegal tactics by holding at every opportunity.
Abril did hold a good amount, but that's not what won him the fight. and he didnt RUN, Abril boxed his ****ing breaks off, and landed CLEAN leather consistently while brandon was fighting like a dirty frustrated *****.
It's not that he didn't look good. Help the man see the truth, HE LOST. He still doesn't get it. It's like the emperor's new clothes.
Other than a few jabs. I never saw anything of any substance landed by Abril on Rios. The harder punches, as few as there were. Were landed by Rios. It was a terrible fight.
Sometimes. As I said it was a terrible fight. Thought Rios had lost because he failed to fight his fight and to stop Abril. Rios looked terrible but to me Abril looked bad too. Too much holding. I felt Rios had lost not because of what little Abril was able to do but because of what Rios was unable to do. The pressure and expectations were all on Rios. Missing weight and trying so hard to lose the weight beforehand made Rios weak. Missing weight made him mentally weak. He was never into this fight mentally. Rios has to be mentally into a fight to fight well. He would have just as soon been anywhere else after the chance to win his title back was gone. Hopefully Brandon has matured beyond this. A boxer has to fight every fight like it is their last.
