This is maybe my favourite boxing performance of all-time. Barkley was never a great fighter, and he was a little past-prime here, but he was favourite to win, many people forget that. He was a bigger man than James, had size advantages on the night, and came out swinging for the fences. A lesser guy moving up to smw to face this ugly big bruiser would have either folded or ran. Toney met him head on, and beat him down. It was just sublime. His little fast hooks on the inside were a joy to behold. ****ing poetry.
Don't even bother trying to reason with that fanboy gimp. He thinks Barkley was a bum, but thinks Jeff Lacy was the Marvin Hagler of the 2000s. Waste of time.
just watch the handspeed at about 3:20ish on the clock when he pats down the jab from Barkley and goes straight over the top with the same hand to land a bomb. wow discipline killed him
Holy hell, could Toney fight on the inside or what?! Look at those uppercuts and slick defensive maneuvers! :happy Watch and learn you General Forum ignoramuses.
Toney could just be really beautiful to watch in the ring. The subtle movements, countering, combinations, in-fighting, etc... This was fun as hell to watch too.
