Bernard Hopkins. Ugly is a word I would use to describe a accepted Hopkins fight. No class and no style, dirty. With probably the tackiest of all enterances. I mean come on, the EXECUTIONER? Absolutely ridiculous and something you would expect from any NOBODY thats ever entered the ring. When I think about the fights I would like to see again, Hopkins tops out the bottom of the list....... Everything about Hopkins is avarage.. Power? Handspeed? Strenght Well perhaps enduracne.. for a 40 yo????? One thing thats not avarage is.... the bottom line. When it comes to winning, Hopkins finds a way, any way. Look past his act and bravado you will see a boxing clinique. Hopkins is an adapter. He adapts and adapts. He went to prison for some time, much like Tyson, but what he did not leave behind those bars was his spirit. Any man that can reclaim his soul after being behind bars is indeed anything but avarage. He enters the ring, unsung, under appreciated, and no matter how hard the crowds boo, and no matter what the media says, he does what he is doing. He fights ugly, he fights dirty, he fights smart. Hopkins is a dirty fighter.... But just clean enough to go under the radar. There is not a man alive in boxing thats gone as far with as little as Hopkins has. Guys like this will never make the $$$. But if you are a fan of fighting you have to appreciate what he has accomplished with so little.... The power of determination...
I don't know why everyone says Hopkins would get blown out by Calzaghe. The only danger for him is the volume of punches Calzaghe throws, so he would need to be more active than usual to avoid getting decisioned based on pure output of punches. Other than that, Hopkins has fought infinitely more tough opponents and I believe is undefeated against southpaws. At least give the old man credit for having a legit chance to win if the fight happens.
Yeah Hopkins is one of my favorite current fighters. His last fight was very annoying to watch though - he was hugging as much as Hatton against Wright. I was glad to see him win, though.
The only danger to Hopkins is his age. And I keep on waiting...waiting...waiting.... And everytime I think its time , it ain't it.
BEST POST EVER I dont care if Hopkins' style is boring. When i watch his fights i am marvelled at all the little things he does to get an advantage. I favour Calzaghe slightly but JC is a great fighter and Hopkins is not fighting at middleweight anymore. + he is 43. People talking of a blowout need to get with the ****in program
