I've been wanting to do this for a while. Kell Brooks (Welterweight) This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 19 his fight against kevin McIntyre Kell fights similar to naseem hamed (he is trained by the ingles) He's pretty heavy handed with a good jab. he's shows great patience, accuracy and timing for a 22 yr old who has only had 19 pro fights. TechnicALLY HE is sound as he is trained by brendan ingle. One to watch definetly. imo he'll be making some serious noise in the welterweight division in a bout a years time! Paul McCloskey This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 18 he's a southpaw light welterweight from Northern Ireland. he's in a pretty rough/hardcore gym. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/northern_ireland/season_ticket/7928092.stm his fight with cedar bazan who has also mixed it with mosley and castillo i believe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qT3yRdjUikM&feature=related I first noticed him when he beat colin lynes. he reminds me of calzaghe, he is classy and very confident. technically he is very good also, note his defense. Who said great britain doesnt breed great fighters??? (paul is fighting barry morrison next friday) Tavouris Cloud Light heavyweight contender This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 19 I'm surprised that there isnt much mention about this ferocious fighter in the forums. This fella had a tough upbringing which motivates him to win. He is a very big puncher and has the defense of a mayweather. People are going on about gamboa and other guys like khan who are good but this guy is just as good or better. Im just dont impressed with his activity level. after a career best win against julio gonzales, he's gone into hiding. Darren Barker This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 19 i remeber seeing this guy fight in 2006 and i knew this guy was a real prospect. the reason being, he could hit without being hit. In that particular fight he used the same style as prime mike tyson, very aggressive with good defensive upperbody movement. since then he has changed his style a little but is still everybit as good if not better. When he sparred with mikkell kessler, kessler said he believes darren barker is the future champion. he has also sparred with froch with similar comments from froch. Scott belshaw heavyweight This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 11 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UijNLjwPM_Q i wasnt sure to put this guy on this list but i thought i'd give him a chance. he's a big lump at 6'7. Punches very hard, fights similar to big george. imo he needs a better trainer. Tyson Fury This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkV_yrGaGbg This guy looks to be the real deal. He's big, standing at 6'8. fights just like vitali klitschko imo. We will see what this guy is made of after a few fights, his chin will also need to tested. he has the eyesof vitali and a similar attitude. imo Kell Brook, Paul McCloskey, Tavouris Cloud and darren barker are definetly the ones to watch, they may be serious threats to the champions in the future. Great fighters come from all over, but britain has a few prospect on the way up who are gonna take the space of Calzaghe, hatton and Khan when they go. I will update this from time to time.
McCloskey and Cloud are not prospects. They are already fringe contenders and solid fighters.Besides they're age doesn't fit the prospect label.
amir khan, and george groves, and darren sutherland, and them cuban eze that turned pro a few months ago
I'm sorry but if you can't see why he's so highly rated as a young prospect then there's nothing I can say to explain it to you.
You asked "What's the big deal about Danny Jacobs?" If you can't see it then I can't explain it to you...because the evidence is in the fights.
He's the guy I've got my eye on. McCloskey has found his level, he's 29. Both Barker and Brook are promising but I'm not sure Brook has solid enougn fundamentals or that Barker has that something special to make waves at world class.
