Skip to about 49:30 since there are multiple fights on this link. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/31787855 I'm blue corner, wearing all black. (for some strange reason, it pauses around the 2nd round, and you have to just advance the marker slightly forward to resume - wierd) Anyways, i'm open to criticism. But believe me, i'm aware of most of my bad habits and limitations. I get mad at myself when I watch my videos because it's so easy to spot. Otherwise, I'm proud of the win nonetheless. It's my 7th fight, and I have improved a lot from previous fights. I know I have lots more opportunity to improve. Comments welcome.
From what I see so far in the first round (I don't have much time right now), you have great head movement coming in and good strong combinations on the inside. The main thing that would benefit you a lot, however, would be to use your jab to get your distance as well as keep your opponent guessing when you're going to come in for the assault. Your in and out movement would be a lot more unpredictable if you did that and utilized a few more feints. The last thing is that after you come in and land those nice hooks, you often leave your head up high without much of a guard for a few moments. You should land those combinations, then get out with your guard up or your head down. Otherwise, you looked really relaxed in there with great poise and posture.
Thanks Augustane. I fully agree. These are all points i've heard from my coach before. I execute much better in sparring, but like a lot of less experienced fights, I forget a lot of that in competition. I appreciate the feedback.
