Hey guys this is Anthony Karperis. I've been boxing for about two years now and I participated in my first Golden Gloves this year. I'm in the 132 Novice class and I made it into the finals and I'm fighting at MSG in about two weeks. I have my fights on youtube and I wanted to see what you guys thought. I got off to a rough start in my first fight, but I;ve been trying to learn from my mistakes. If you guys have any constructive criticism that'd be great. I wanna learn as much is I can. Good luck man. I just started boxing myself at 132lbs. I fought and won my first fight last Friday and I'm gonna try my second fight at a Golden Gloves this Saturday...Hopefully I do ok hehe, Good luck to you too.
22 Man I've been a die hard boxing fan all my life and only really would train by myself just for the sake of the workout. But 2 of my other friends just decided to just try it out and we just joined UCC out here in Milwaukee. Israel Acostas runs the show and he trains us... 105lb amateur who had a rec of 484-16 lol...I'm only doing it for the experience/fun.. I'll probably only last for about another 4-5 months then its off to grad school :scaredas: Yesterday Antwun Echols showed up at the gym! He came in to spar our ridiculously talented Cuban 17 year old fighter who fights at 150ish lbs. (IMHO Our Cuban kid wupped him lmao)
nice job staying cool and relaxed in the daniel hernandez fight, that guy was screwing around wasting his energy and you just stayed there cool and collected. 1 question though, seems like you fought him with a lot less movement than in the other vids you showed here. With Hernandez.. Did you keep your guard up and moved less because you felt he was bigger than you or was it because he was a South Paw? Or both? I figured since he was southpaw you put your guard up and smothered his right jab so he really couldn't get the straight punches off which are a ***** when your up against a southpaw.
Thanks for the luck fellas,I'm 19 years old btw...and as for the post above, I fought my first fight like that because I lost my legs like a minute and a half in, dont know why but i was completely shot and he was throwing a ton of punches, so i figured instead of moving around because I couldnt haha I would just absorb his shots because he didnt hit hard, however, him being a osuthpaw didnt help either lol
thanks a lot i appreciate, for the finals I'm trying to become more agressive, not to the point where I open up but instead of 3 or 4 punch combos im aiming for 6 or 7 ones...so I've been trying to get my body used to do that...
You have really really good movement man. Keep up the work, boxing is fun as long as you can put 100% of your time and commitment into it. It's a bit dragging and stressful if you got other things going on but its awesome. You already have great movement and you let your hands go nicely, just keep training those hips and focus on moving a lot and punching/counter punching off angles. The best thing to have in boxing is great vision and movement and the ability to fire quickly at openings. I know its easy to talk about this but its a ***** to execute it.
