Hello everyone! Just recently had my first amateur boxing fight. Take a look and tell me what you think. I'm in the blue shorts. (Blue Corner) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvnpHzyF5hA
That was a good job for your first time. Everyone gets tired from the adrenaline dump into your system. But you did good throwing fast and controlled and mixing up your punches. Just try not to square up when you throw combos. How much do you weigh?
Try to be the first one to throw combinations next time. Most of the time you waited for him to throw a few punches and then you reacted. Make him react...and get out of there before he can.
i was impressed, you didn't look like a fighter who was making his debut and you also looked fairly cool.i noticed you landed with a left hook lead one time which people on this site(me included)had said not to do.
It was good but my bit of advice for you is that you should try to move more. You need to be moving and making him follow you. I'd also suggest you throw a variety of shots, the body is perhaps the best place to hit any opponent and it would slow him down. I also agree with the person above in the fact you need to be proactive not reactive. Other then that you looked good, just try to stick and move and throw from angles. It's all easier said then done but with more training you look like you have some potential.
Great advice everyone thank you!! I weighed in at 149 for this fight but I am still losing because I don't feel comfortable at this weight. I usually move a lot more than this, stepping in throwing 1,2,3 combination's, stepping out and moving off to the side. But someone did warn me that my legs would probably feel a bit stiff which they did plus I was dead tired lol.
Is this is a case of you feeling that you're to heavy or to light? Either way not fighting at a comfortable weight is extremely detrimental to you. If you're fighting too low then you lose a lot of yourself because you lose a lot of your abilities. Being drained makes you feel lethargic and perhaps your physical abilities will suffer greatly. It's the same with being to heavy, you'll feel as if you're carrying to much weight around you in the ring. Is it a case of to heavy or to light because I know there are a lot of knowledgable people on this forum that can help you with your diet to ensure you're fighting at a weight you feel comfortable with.
No I feel to heavy at this weight and would like to go to 140 Lbs where I feel perfect because I used to be at that weight but started slacking off with the training and gained back a few lbs. Now I've been training hard again and the weight is going down slowly although I do fear sometimes I may be eating to little for my age. I'm 16 years old.
Congrats on your first fight, lookin good. i see that you're from atlas, is Julius [sp?] still fighting?
