Yeah, all those scare stories about how much more tiring it is being in a ring properly (which, is obviously true, but not as bad as I was expecting) meant I tried too hard to pace myself/let the other guy tire out and I reckon I could have worked harder

I'm amateur with a very talented team.
Throw your jab in succession. What I* do usually aainst taller guys is throw a double or triple jab. The first jab is more of a "feeling" type jab since i'm obviously out of range. The second and third jabs however I put grit behind it as I'm usually within range.

Once you get him on the ropes..do NOT square up and get close to him BUT get within a little bit closer of your range. That way there is a small amount of distance between you two making it harder to grab but still allowing you to get full power on your shots.

Also don't throw wild on the ropes. Unless he has insane footwork or you're VERY careless and sloppy, he will be staying there for more than 2 seconds, so pick your shots. I usually try to work the body when on the ropes, because this will discourage him from moving side to side if you're tagging him with hooks. If you aim for the head, chances are he'll dip and move allowing him more chances to slide out of your sweet spot.

Thanks, that looks like good advice, as I was thinking I could have done better when I got him on the ropes; I'll work on it...

Yeah, the bringing in the right cross more would have helped as would have throwing punches like uppercut etc, or some reason they're raelly difficult to get myself to throw :/

    AGREED.

You backed off a couple of times when you had him in a bit of trouble. Of course it's easier said than done early in your career but you can't afford to get into bad habits.

Try moving laterally the next time you feel an urge to back off.

Apart from a few other issues that you will surely work on over time I'd be happy with that. The fact you're in there to start with is awesome.

    Well Done.
