My first fight videos, please comment :)

Liz, I've had just the one - it's quiet around here as far as amateur fights because most people are doing the Golden Gloves and I figured I wasn't ready yet with just one fight. I've also had a fight cancelled at the last minute (after dropping down to 67 to get the fight in the first place!). It's frustrating and from what I hear, it happens all the time, so I guess I'd better get used to it.

My next fight will happen at the end of next month if the gym sponsoring the show can find an opponent. I have video of the first one and I'd be happy to send you a link to the video in a private message if you want to see it.

 

The difficulty of finding opponents, even in your weight class, will never go away. It is best to get used to it now. Just use the time to stay up in the gym and put in more work so you're more ready next time. Best piece of advice I an give is get as much work in the ring sparring as possible so you're as comfortable as possible when it's fight time.

 

Thanks, Kolya. I know it's not the last time it'll happen, but it's always tough to get my hopes up (and my weight down) for absolutely nothing.

Are you really in Montana? That's where I grew up! (When I was a kid in the late 80s, watching an Olympic champ from Great Falls named Todd Foster was what got me interested in boxing.)

 

Todd Foster. God that dude is ****ed up now. He was great back in the day though. Where did you grow up? You should talk to the poster Amy, she's active in amateur boxing and was born and raised in Great Falls, still lives in Montana.

 

^Did you guys even watch the video? You couldn't tell the fight was between 2 ladies?
