just caught up with the porter fight from last night on espn (still not watched main event though)

firstly i scored it 99-92 porter or 8-1-1

the guy has talent no doubt and lots of speed , the guy he fought last night was made for him (slow and low workrate) i actually thought the guy that porter fought was like ben tackie in style.

back to porters talent...he has to slow down as he still fights a bit like an amatuer. if he can sit down on his punches a bit aswell then he gets a better ko ratio.

defence..well he was caught alot with the right hand and i think a world class pressure fighter destroys him. his reflexs and sise to side movement is above average

at this level porter is too good , he has to fight some of the lower top 15-10 in the world , i think he could be a tremendous counterpuncher because of his speed. i like the way he mixes from head to body aswell.

overall a good prospect but he is at least 2 years away from a title shot , his power must improve or guys are gonna walk through him. if he sits down on his shot then he hurts his opponent more.

if im his manager id go for either demitrius hopkins or randall bailey for his next fight...bailey would certainly test porters chin..step it up a level then by the end of the year or some time next year i would go for joshua clottey as he fits the bill of a good fighter although not very fast in the footwork or punch department.

Didn't he kind of look like Shane Mosley with the jitters and without the power and good instincts? I kept thinking, physique, jittery, fast but kind of easy to hit sometimes, this guy reminds me of Shane, but he doesn't hit hard. I think he's a good sparring partner for Pac, I do wish he would sit down on his punches more and not get caught coming in so much.

The other guy did a good job timing him with the limited offense he threw.

Overall, I say Porter has talent, but has some REAL weaknesses. Great speed, great workrate, don't know about his chin and heart yet at this stage.

i agree mate....just saw that hopkins has another fight set up so if im his manager i would go for bailey as he would test porters heart and chin

i also agree hes a bit like mosley and that its a good bit of sparring for pacquaio because of poerters style.

as i mentioned he has to be moved up to around the top 15-10 this year to see if he can handle it

overall it was a decent test without being overly dangerous for porter

Reminds me of a young Berto. I still think he gets hit too much for my taste.

i was not impressed at all with shawn porter..he has skills and speed but he reminds me of poor version of andre berto...the dude he was fighting was a natural 122lber and he was cracking him almost at will with that right hand last night, had him running a few rounds...
