    From Sport.ru...

Evander Holyfield has spoken candidly about his controversial second fight with Mike Tyson, fifteen years on from when ‘The Real Deal’ had the top of his ear bitten off by the former undisputed champion.

The 49 year-old, who is still keen on returning to the ring as he approaches his landmark 50th birthday, spoke about the incident in a documentary about him entitled ‘Legends’ and held nothing back when asked how he felt when Tyson gnawed at him in 1997.

“I was ticked off. Anything that I could have done, I was getting ready to do it,” said Holyfield in the interview.

“When this happened and he bit me on my ear, I jumped up and I turned around and he pushed me, then I could see that he feels like this is the only way he could win. That I will run in there and he could catch me with a shot. But I am going to come back and be calm, cool and collected and still get him.

“I stood off though and caught him with more shots and then he bit my other ear and then I got mad and was getting ready to kick him right in the balls. I got my feet back ready to do it and something said ‘don’t do that’ and in my head I knew I had to forgive him.”

The two warriors have since become friends since the shocking act earned Tyson a disqualification from the MGM Grand bout and were pictured at the WBC convention last year sharing a joke.

Four-time world heavyweight champion Holyfield, is still training to return to the ring after a thirteen month absence and is awaiting the call to fight for the 58th time in glittering career spanning an amazing 28 years.

    ---

Interesting stuff, the slimy Horne claimed post-fight that Holy intentionally butted Mike 15 times in 3 rounds, whereas Holy says he was ready to bite Mike, in expectation that Tyson was about to butt or elbow him. Anyway, I really want to see this new "Legends" documentary now. Your thoughts?

4 all of his blatant elbows , Tyson deserved every single headbutt from Holyfield .
    Unlike Holyfield's headbutts , 100% of Tyson's career's elbows were deliberate and were his style : miss a hook , land n elbow .

When does Legends come out. I've always enjoyed Holyfield, and the Holyfield-Tyson fights & story behind them are fascinating.

he was #1 briefly , #2 and sometimes below Qawi b/c after all Qawi lasted 15 against Holyfield while older and much smaller and didn't really lose in d 1st fight , whereas Tyson couldn't last 12 while younger and not that much smaller (even bigger , 2 some) .

I'd rather split my p4p 2 eras and my problem is how 2 divide d history 2 eras : d mafia era , d color line era , d ND & NWS era , as well as other notable changes in d sport throughout time .

I'd rather not spoil d thread by changing subjects further , but Tyson's "style" does not comply with d rules of d sport . Tyson's cheating may b worse than Hopkins' if u know what i mean .

It's hard 4 me 2 understand how come Tyson didn't counter Holyfield's head with his elbows , reads like tailor made 4 Tyson Xept it wasn't and i wonder y . Holyfield deserves some respect 4 trying (?) and succeeding at butting Tyson .

Really , i once admired Tyson , but his style does not deserve any credit as far as boxing goes .
Real life ? MMA abolished it , in its majority , even professional MT abolished it .
Real life really ? his style is vulnerable 2 headkicks & knees , not 2 mention pushdowns and rabbit elbows .

Every ****ing week this old guy talks about Tyson biting his ear.
I don't know if he's too polite to tell the interviewers 'next question' or whether he so old and punch-drunk he doesn't even remember that's his said the same thing five millions times before.

It would have been funny to see Holyfield (attempt) to kick Tyson in the balls and what Mike reaction to that would have been.

Would have been funny to see Holyfield attempt to use the same tactics against Tyson in 1991.

With all due respect to Holy, Tyson would have pushed his **** in.

    Totally different animal pre prison.

I did post a detailed interview from holy quiet a few months back. Holy stated when he first fought Tysin in 96, he wondered if Tyson could still fight hard after prison, like he used to before

Ive always said, and i stick by this, i believe Tyson lost his bottle in prison, he lost his fighting guts somewhere between 91-95. Then he came out of prison and was treated like a king and everyone was grovelling before him, he got undeserved title shots after beating Mcneely and Mathis, then holy bought him back to reality.

Hes admitted it himself, he bit Holyfields because things werent going his way and he was acting like a spolied brat

Not just because things weren't going his own way, he quite clearly knew he wasn't going to win. Prime for prime Its a genuine 50-50 but I'd still slightly favour holyfield

On the actual subject of this thread, I'm with Legend X. We've heard evander talk about this way too many times

You really think Evander would go so far as to skin Mike alive after kicking him in the balls? I happen to think he's nicer than that. :think

Where is the interview where he says he loves Jesus but refuses to pay child support to his 18 kids?
