Ive never done a break down of a fight before on here so feel free to dispute my prediction, thats what this forum is all about. I see Groves boxing well. In and out and good lateral movement. Giving Froch problems and landing his shots. Especially the jab. Froch usually struggles with hand speed and boxers. Groves is good in both those areas. I also think Groves power is underrated. I dont really think he can stop Froch but i think he can really shake him and land some telling blows. Groves has to be patient and pick his moments very carefully. Froch i think will go after him non stop. Although Groves shows signs of being really elusive at times, he also has times where he is so open and takes some big shots. Against Froch that can be disastrous. For Froch its about cornering Groves and getting close. Sometimes he struggles to do that against good movers though. Overall, based on what i just said, i think a Groves points win is slightly favourable but only slighty. But I think the other possible result would be an early stoppage for Froch. I think if Groves gets caught early that will be it but after some rounds if he is doing well he will know what Froch does and be able to box accordingly and get better as the fight progresses. So im predicting Groves on points, (but wouldnt be surprised for an early stoppage for Froch around the fourth or fifth). One thing i do know for sure is it will be a great night and a great atmosphere. Roll on Saturday night!!!!

Thanks,Floyd.Interesting.I tend to think that Groves will get a cut and it could be an unsatisfactory ending.Glad you're looking forward to it.So am I,but its a shame these bills are never as good on the night as they are when they're selling tickets. One thing Im sure of:Whatever the result, the insults will stop.

Its all about how Groves handle the punch of Froch, i happen to think he handles it badly and gets put on the ropes, battered and stopped within 6 rounds. But if Groves can take it well the upset is a possibility but i can't see it.

You'd think some people would think Groves is scared of getting hit by Froch, he's a boxer and he isn't going to be scared of exchanging because at the end of the day he will have to.

I agree that defensively he can be elusive and also get a little careless but he has improved in this area every one of his fights, he will have to make sure as you said he doesn't get hurt early on.

I actually expect him to go on the front foot when he can, he will know Frochs strengths are chasing people down, I also believe he knows he is a faster puncher and moves quicker so will rely on that when exchanging.

Would not surprise me if he throws his punches then attempts to smother Frochs work by getting close and trying to tie him up before he can get his own shots off enough.

Too many people expect him to bike it just because he went on the backfoot against degale, but in my opinion he knew thats what he had to do as degale was technically better, he made him fight outside his comfort zone.

I could be wrong but I dont expect him to just fight on the backfoot all fight or even the majority of it, I think a lot of the clues were in what his trainer was saying in the ifilm interview.

Speed tends to beat power also.

If Groves can not get carelessly hurt early on I think he has a good chance.

Ofcourse I could be wrong and he bikes it for 12 rounds but I honestly dont see him doing that.

May the best fighter win anyway.

If Groves is as focused as he claims and sticks to a game plan he can win this. Froch seems to think one right hand and it's over, Froch had 1 KO in his last 10 fights and that was Mack, it's an accumulation of punches he throws that wears opponents down, it probably explains why he refers the Groves knockdown in sparring as a knockout instead of a knock down.

Groves is going to be well up for this fight, that's for sure. Whether at 36, Froch has the same focus and discipline, who knows?

Groves is a lot younger, has decent skills and speed and can obviously hit pretty hard otherwise he would not have a near 80% stoppage rate.

Dirrell went the distance, Taylor (a middeweight) nearly went it, a bigger solid guy like Groves should have enough not to get dealt with quickly.

If Froch is underprepared or demotivated (for whatever reason) it could be interesting. He could also age over night.

I fancy Froch to be the aggressor here and the one who throws the bombs, Groves to box and counterpunch. Can Groves steal this on points?:huh

Froch a big favourite for me by KO.

Just think Froch will hurt Groves just after midway around 8 & will finish him but it could be a real interesting fight first few rounds how the styles gel should make for interesting viewing.Good atmosphere & more than a bit of needle bet Eddie is pleased!

Bute was a TKO and was beaten before he got in the ring 'deer in the headlights' springs to mind, the guy just lay on the ropes, he just needed the words tattooed on his head 'hit me now'.

TKO? Techincallly, but Bute was out of it and the ropes were holding him up! The ref could have left Froch at it, and Bute would have been killed. Would that have been a genuine enough KO?! Also, Taylor was a KO as well, so that's 3 KOs on his World Championship run.

When Froch fought Pascal - which was his first World title fight - he was 23-0 (19). The way Groves puts down Carl's KO % is very short sighted given that he's actually got less KOs than Froch did at that level. Not that that level means a lot going into tomorrow, but Groves has a lot to prove, and if he ISN'T world class, then yes, Froch COULD KO him with one punch.

There was one punch in the end that really sparked Bute, and the ref stepped in. By '1 Punch', are we talking about someone who is going to KO someone with the first punch they connect with in the whole fight? Not many people do that. Or are we talking about one shot in and of itself that can finish a fight? Look at some of Froch's stoppages:

Tatevosyan - went 12 rounds with Bute, got sparked in the 2nd round against Froch, got up, covered up on the ropes and didn't throw a punch until the ref stopped the fight. One punch basically ended that fight, but it was allowed to continue until he got hit with something like 20 unanswered shots.

Magee - Spark-out in the 11th round. He had been knocked down twice in the fight, and then sparked with a head shot after that. Only other KOs he has suffered since have been body KOs I believe.

Taylor - Knocked down in the 12th, LOOOOONNNGGGG count, didn't recover, couldn't defend himself, ropes held him up until fight was stopped.

Bute - All but unconscious on the ropes, held up and could have been SEVERLY damaged if it carried on.

Mack - Body KO, one punch.

So yeah...Froch can KO cleanly (Magee, Mack), can knock people down (Taylor, Magee, Tatevosyan, Mack), and can also effectively end a fight with one punch which renders opponents unable to defend themselves, although they are still conscious. Part of his style is to bully people into the ropes, where they are then held up, but can't get away, and then beat them senseless.

My point is, he has World Class power. Maybe not 1 punch KO power against ALL opposition - although Kessler, Johnson, Ward, Pascal, Abraham have never been knocked out, but more than enough to end a fight.

And to answer my original point, Bute DOES count as a KO victory, whether the ref stopped it or not, and so does Taylor.
