This is the young Tyson. What a phenom. Look at 1:29 of the video- the speed and precision he moved with at that age. By the way, the video got me thinking.. what heavies would you favor over a prime Tyson h2h? [YT]u6zlaIl0yh0[/YT]
What a monster. Tight, peeking style guard, beautiful weaving/slipping/general upper body movement, hell of a lot of speed, and of course, crushing power.
I still maintain that out of all the fantasy boxing matchups, the most exciting heavyweight one that could be made would be prime Tyson vs prime Dempsey. Great video, by the way. Thanks for posting it.
I'd favor(and I use that lightly) Ali, Lewis, and Holmes in their primes. Could be wrong. He could beat any of them. Holyfield is another I may favor.
some of the footage were sped up a bit but nonetheless..Ill put it this way..he can beat anyone in his prime
So what? he had talent but he pissed it away from his own stupidity:-( Post 1970 Heavies i would favor over him-Ali, Holmes Lennox Lewis, Holyfield who stopped him twice:deal Frazier, and definitly Foreman, none of those dudes would have had an ounce of fear of him, and all would have stood up to him and beat him.. I would even give Jerry Quarry, and Norton 50-50 chance of beating him:hey if Tyson was so great why did he get KTFO by a 42-1 underdog..
Any one of the contenders can beat any one else on a given night (Schmellig, Johanson, Douglas, Rahman...) But you need to look at what would happen MOST of the time. And with that in mind, I would rate Ali, Lewis, Foreman and Holmes above Tyson. Possibly Louis and Marciano too. Great video. The heavyweight division owes a lot to Tyson for the excitement he brought, and is sorely missing someone of similar calibre and explosiveness at this point.
