    .......GGG settling in more, but close round. DJ movement and combination of ====================attributes making GGG wary.

    . He let DJ throw all-out to start the round to wear ====================down DJ for later in the round. DJ power looks gone. GGG ====================comes on late in the round.

    .......DJ speed and movement and resiliency making it tough for GGG. DJ trying ====================to play to the crowd and the judges.
    This content is protected
    .......DJ exhausted, trying to play to the judges. DJ has little left.
    This content is protected
    .......DJ falls down after bell. Exhausted.

    116-111 GGG [8-4 GGG rounds] (1 point off of the 115-112 [7-5 GGG rounds] that two judges scored the fight).

    6 close rounds, 3 won by each man.

    SUMMARY:

    DJ was content to try to catch GGG (trade power shots) until the knockdown in Round 4. Then in Round 6, DJ switched to stick-and-move strategy, which worked pretty darn well. In Round 9, GGG began to work to make DJ punch himself out, which seemed to happen. Jacobs came back well in Round 10, but faded in Round 11 and Round 12.

    Terrific permanence by both men, particularly Jacobs. I've never seen him fight at this level and he's not going anywhere in the division if he can keep making weight and keep fighting like this.

    Jacobs did his maximum and was able to get away from KO/TKO.
    It is great achievement against GGG.

    Best I have ever seen him fight.

    I'm happy for him. He's been through a lot, and he really came through in this fight.

    Good for him.

    If he fights like this, he's going to be around a long time.

    Exactly. He may even get a split decision against Canelo fighting like he did tonight.

    If he fought like this against Canelo, he would destroy Canelo, IMO.

    I have Lemieux, GGG and Jacobs all beating Canelo soundly. Probably some other MW's as well.

    Jacobs was probably like 180+ tonight, with power and chin and speed and movement and size.

    Too much for Canelo, IMO.

    I bought the fight. I had it 8 rounds to 4 for Golovkin....................was not close, by the way, Golovkin landed 15 punches in round 1, Jacobs only landed 3, Golovkin also landed more punches in round 2, not much happened, but it was Golovkin making the fight and Jacobs doing absolutely nothing................Golovkin knocked Jacobs, knocked him down, hurt him again with an uppercut and a jab, staggered Jacobs. Jacobs cheated on the weight, I guess SOB Ward, the chicken SOB taught him how to cheat. In rounds 1 and two I counted the punches, punch stats were off, but even the punch stats had Golovkin landing more punches..........Golovkin was never hurt in any round......................

    Gonzalez was robbed, he landed many more punches, he won, the crowed booed like hell. The crowd booed Jacobs when Jacobs said he thought he won the fight, no, he did not win the fight, the scoring was too close, not a close fight.............

    I thought Jacobs fought a great fight and did all he could, even though GGG won the fight. Jacobs was able to stand up to The Monster for 12 rounds. That deserves respect. And he kept it close.

    GGG was never hurt, that's true.

    I also thought Gonzalez won, but Sor fought a great fight and deserves big respect.

    The people frantically posting their scorecard and trying to justify it after multiple viewings (maybe even in slow motion, upside down) are the ones who scored for Golovkin. Why so defensive about it? Everybody seems to think it was a poor-ish fight from entertainment value but high tension from a boxing fans' perspective... and we know there's only one way that was possible to happen if this fight went 12. And that's if Jacobs was doing much, much (how many more times can I say "much" here?) better than anyone ever expected.

    As I said, my scorecard was only one point off what two official judges had for the fight.

    I'm a pretty good scorer with a pretty good track record. And I back up my scores with notes.

    I can't stand people who will criticize a fight but don't have the guts to post their scores and notes.

    Gotta have courage.

    Additionally, my scorecard was only two rounds different than how Harold Lederman scored the fight (he gave Jacobs the 8th and the 12th, and I scored them for GGG).

    I always post my scores when I watch a fight and come here. Did the same thing for Ward-Kovalev.

    I'm not defensive, just sharing what I saw.

    I agree with you on this -- Jacobs was WAY better than I thought he would be. All credit to him for that.

    Ok, now we have the full CompuBox data to go on. Including round-by-round info. As well as the official scorecards.

    So if you go round-by-round with CompuBox, and score the winner of the round by total punches landed (obviously not a perfect formula), you get this card:

    01. Golovkin ======>

    02. Golovkin ======>

    03. Golovkin ======> I had the same score
    04. Golovkin ======> I had the same score
    05. Golovkin ======> I had the same score
    06. Draw ========>

    07. Jacobs =======>
    This content is protected

    08. Golovkin ======> I had the same score
    09. Golovkin ======> I had the same score
    10. Jacobs =======> I had the same score
    11. Golovkin ======> I had the same score
    12. Golovkin ======> I had the same score

    That's 9-2-1 Golovkin rounds. Three rounds at variance with my own card (I am comfortable giving the 6th round to Jacobs).

    I'm upset that I seemed to mis-score the 7th round (even though I had it as a 'close' round, the stats favor Jacobs), but then I see that two of the three official judges gave Jacobs the 12th round (the second-most lopsided round of the fight in GGG's favor, behind the 4th, in terms of punches landed) and that makes me feel much better.

    They had him by one round, and even they said at the end of the fight that they might have had it wrong.
