    Golovkin vs Canelo 2

    Round 1

Opening bell and they meet in the center of the ring, there is a short feeling out process for approximately 20-25 seconds and then Alvarez lands a left up top. There is little action or dynamic moments at the halfway point. Alvarez lands a half-hearted right upstairs, of little consequence to Golovkin. Golovkin is being very calculated and passive. A triple jab by Golovkin. A combination by Golovkin, mostly missed as Alvarez avoids them. Golovkin begins to pave a way forward with his jab as it begins to find it’s mark. This has been a tactical and calculated round for both fighters.

Golovkin used the jab early to try to create the pace, but Alvarez did a great job walking forward on him and was a more active puncher than he was in much of last year's fight. With the closeness, however, I have to tip it to Golovkin for the use of his jab.

    Round 2

Golovkin opens with a left uppercut which didn’t land clearly but did display a show of force and inspired a forceful reaction from the crowd. Canelo lands both a clean uppercut and combination, and right uppercut. This leads to clash in which each fighter stands and trades. Golovkin lands a sharp left hook, countered by a duplicate combination. Golovkin lands a stinging left jab. Alvarez lands a strong and punishing shot to the body. This is followed by Golovkin now inching backward, with Golovkin landing his jab effectively.

Canelo’s hand speed is a clear factor in this match, especially the combination punching. Alvarez applied more pressure than in the 1st round and forced Golovkin out of his comfort zone. There is simply not enough body work done by Golovkin at this point. This was close, but a round for Alvarez.

    Round 3

Alvarez is throwing the majority of punches, although not landing much or effectively. This is keeping Golovkin off balance. Alvarez lands an uppercut as Golovkin is landing the left jab. There is accurate and effective counter punching by both men. Golovkin misses with a right hook and is countered by a combination to the body by Alvarez. A good straight left by Golovkin at the end of the round.

Alvarez is utilizing his speed advantage effectively, but Golovkin utilized his jab more effectively as well. Round three to Alvarez.

    Round 4

The battle has been fought in the center of the ring thus far. This has been a reversal from the 1st fight. Golovkin lands a very solid uppercut to Alvarez, followed by three stiff jabs. Golovkin lands a short left over an Alvarez jab. Both fighters exchange body shots. Golovkin has picked up his intensity and activity but he seems to be huffing air already and his punches are seeming to lack steam. Canelo is looking relaxed however.

Another for Golovkin and the easiest round to score so far, but they’ve all been close. If Golovkin is winning this fight, it's with his stiff and educated jab.

    Round 5

Golovkin continues to score with the left jab. The crowd is really getting into this match now with matching chants for each fighter. Golovkin lands a stinging combo after a missed Alvarez jab. Alvarez lands a stiff jab now. A straight right by Golovkin but a counter shot to the body by Alvarez. Canelo is able to shift the trajectory of the match and back up Golovkin.

Golovkin’s work rate is slow and Álvarez is not backing down. Clear round for Canelo.

    Round 6

Alvarez is pressing but continually getting hit and controlled by the Golovkin jab. Golovkin lands a sharp left, and Alvarez returns fire with a crunching hook to the body. Álvarez not countering as effectively as in the early rounds. Canelo lands a very good combination to the head of Golovkin, but for the most part making Alvarez miss while controlling with the jab.

Álvarez continues to press but Golovkin’s jab is the difference-maker. Alvarez working the body. A late flurry of punches by Álvarez and the Mexican might’ve been enough to take this round in the last 30 seconds. Round 6 to Alvarez.

    Round 7

Alvarez lands a sharp jab upstairs to open up the round. Golovkin utilizing the strong jab still, but not combinations. Alvarez is throwing, and missing, combinations. Alvarez lands a decent left hook and Golovkin follows up with 2-3 landing jabs. They exchange punches with Golovkin landing a good uppercut, Alvarez countering with a right. A short left lands for Golovkin.

Golovkin is following the jab by throwing uppercuts on the inside and right and left hooks. Alvarez is right there and connecting, but it’s one at a time. Round for Golovkin.

    Round 8

Golovkin lands a left hook and an uppercut, followed by returning hook and right by Alvarez. Golovkin follows this exchange with the jab again. Golovkin is bow breathing with his mouth open as Alvarez is landing on the inside. Close round until the final 30 seconds when Golovkin connected on a jab followed by a combination. Alvarez is starting to tire and the punches are starting to take an effect on him.

I have to give the 8th round to Golovkin, although it was a forceful effort by Canelo as well. This is a great fight.

    Round 9

Golovkin is now fighting how many expected him too — using the jab to setup everything else. Alvarez seems to be slowing down a bit. Golovkin is smart to utilize his jab as he is beginning to recover from fatigue. This is the way to do so. More educated jabs from Golovkin and he’s scoring well but appears to be losing steam when he tries to throw power punches in combination as he doesn’t seem to have fully recovered yet. Canelo counters Golovkin with a hard body shot. In the middle of the ring Golovkin seems to get the better theses exchanges.

Golovkin takes a step back, using an educated jab to collect himself, and taking in deep breaths. He’s tired. Another close round but Golovkin has done enough to take it on my card.

    Round 10

Golovkin lands an uppercut, followed by a return right from Alvarez. Alvarez is landing now with an energetic display. Golovkin lands a big 4 punch combination. Alvarez rocked by a thunderous right hand! This is a very, very close fight. Álvarez misses three shots in a row. Golovkin follows by plastering Álvarez with two jabs in the last few seconds and just misses with a cross.

A huge round for Golovkin. Golovkin’s going in there and putting himself on the line for the win.

    Round 11

Golovkin lands right hands early. Neither is phased right now or backing up. Canelo is stunned and wobbled by a right hand. Canelo counters from the ropes with a nice combination. Golovkin is landing the crisper and cleaner punches. Golovkin is attacking with strong body work. Golovkin came out a man on a mission, as he kept pressuring Alvarez with the jab and landed heavy power shots. He's gaining confidence.

There may have been several close rounds in this fight, but this was a clear round for Golovkin.

    Round 12

Golovkin starts the round quickly, landing a left hook and uppercut. This is exciting with both fighters grueling towards the finish line. Golovkin lands a killer uppercut and he’s clearly trying to finish the show strong. Canelo lands an uppercut now. Golovkin bloody and lands a sharp right. Canelo misses.

Golovkin did the one thing he didn't do in the first fight — fought to close the show in the final round. He kept the foot on the gas pedal. The final round goes to Golovkin.

    (Álvarez 112-116 Golovkin)

Yes, we've all played the game and are aware of Glass Joe as being the easiest opponent in the game. Hence why I chose him. You're not exactly the brightest bulb I'm beginning to believe.

Im sorry I didn't hear you very well, since your jaw was shattered all all over the place. Back to the drawing board, or should I say the arts and crafts section of your Walmart to pick up some glue glass Joe.

Yes, incredibly entertaining. Do you have anything even remotely productive or constructive to add to the thread?

By what? Talking about a videogame character that I purposely chose because he was terrible and so...you're mocking him for being terrible. Alright, good for you. You can claim a victory of sorts. Anyone with an IQ above room temperature would understand that I chose him specifically because he lost to Lil Mac smarty pants.

You're how old? Probably old enough to grow up playing the game and still responding like this, which takes us back to the IQ and room temperature comment.

Canelo outfought GG in some of those rounds you scored for him. For instantce the 12 round was stolen fby Canelo as he finished the round d stronger nullifying ywhat G was able to do early. Also that first round was better for Canelo as he pushed the pace and landed some good power shots which were alot cleaner and more damaging than the jab that happened to sway the round to GGG on your card. Now you score those rounds based on the poins I jjust stated and now you easily have it a draw . There were several other rounds that Canelo won close that you scored to GGG. NOW I had it 115-113 for Canelo And so did alot of other people. It was close but GGG lost, and frankly I'm done talking to you about it. Go train, maybe you'll beat a journey someday glass Joe!

    Fair assessment.
One can certainly come to that scorecard.
As I remember it my score was exactly the same as yours for the first 5 rounds and the last 3 rounds.
The last rounds belongs to GGG but the 2 out 3 judges gave it to Canelo.
Round 6789 I gave 3 to Canelo but I forgot which rounds.
Which makes my score a Draw.

You do realize that I'm actually a pretty big fan of Canelo also right? I like his punch variety, counter punching style, and overall knowledge of boxing. His style doesn't translate well against movers however, which obviously GGG is not. That needs to be stated prior to my replies.

    The 1st round.

Slow down the punches or watch it full speed. GGG comes out circling and landing jabs, Canelo swings and misses with 2 lefts. Canelo hits GGG to the right shoulder with a left. Several more jabs by GGG land cleanly. Canelo lands with a body shot. GGG is very conscious of the left hook and has his glove glued to his chin, picking off several which at first glance look to land. "This is a tactical round thus far. If there's an edge, it's Golovkin landing his jab, just like the middle rounds of the 1st fight."

Canelo lands a jab to the chest. Canelo lands a light left hook. GGG lands a combination right over top. Jab, jab, jab by GGG. Canelo missing left hook to head, missing left hook to the body. Golovkin begins to pave a way forward with his jab as it begins to find it’s mark. This has been a tactical and calculated round for both fighters. 4 straight landed jabs by Golovkin to end the round.

Golovkin used the jab early to try to create the pace, but Alvarez did a great job walking forward on him and was a more active puncher than he was in much of last year's fight. With the closeness, however, I have to tip it to Golovkin for the use of his jab.

That was me watching it in semi-slow and normal speed for the past 5-8 minutes. That's what I honestly saw.
