    I read all your posts. What I'm unsure about is whether the WBC (or othies bodies) say, "You must face your mandatory opponent(s) in your next two fights or you will be stripped of your title..." OR, "You must face your mandatory opponents before this date or you will be stripped...".

    Just cause they have thrown a few shockers in the HoF doesn't mean anyone can get in. :lol: Its way to early to call Froch or Pavlik future ATGs, they are still a long way off being future HoFers.

    A win and a gift over a lacklustre Hopkins and a questionable draw with Wright
    is by no means grounds for HoF, especially following it up with 3 losses to average champions.

    No...it's in your next fight, because the rule is something like: You are not allowed to fight ANY voluntary defences until you have fulfilled your mandatory obligations, which in this case require him to fight 2 mandatory challengers, rather than just one, because he won a vacant title...he didn't beat the previous champ to get it.

    Obviously, exceptions can be made, as we've seen with Diaconu, but only if something extraordinary happens, like...Froch's appointed mandatory challenger ****s with him and pulls out and a new date doesn't get arranged because the promoters fall out...or something ridiculous like that...only in this case could Froch fight a voluntary defence next, AS LONG AS the WBC board vote to allow him to, and even in this case, he couldn't unify next, according to the rules. In this case, he'd be allowed a voluntary and then he'd have to fight the mandatory next, before being allowed to unify.

    If Pavlik had beaten Hopkins...and Taylor had beaten Froch...then he'd have been a shoe-in...but as things stand...you're probably right...

    ...I don't know about these things anyway...the boys in "classic" do.:good

    Good points can be made for arguing Ward won't come gunning for Froch in Nottingham either...just yet...but I may be wrong...he might do it...

    Kessler is the best head to head fighter and my preferred fighter in the division. Based on achievements within a reasonable time frame i don't think Kessler deserves to be considered the man, or hold the number 1 rating. Currently there is no man at SMW, however Bute is doing well and staying active, i feel he should be rated number 1 until Kessler beats a top 10 fighter, which he hasn't done in 2 years.

    By saying Kessler is the number 1 ranked SMW we promote everything that sucks about boxing. On that basis i don't feel he deserves the title right now, but any decent win would re-establish his position.

    I agree that there's no "man", right now...but you simply cannot penalise Kessler for not being able to get the fights he wants and deserves. Thats is dreadfully unfair and what makes your argument not stand up to logical scrutiny is that you yourself admit he's the best h2h and he's the one that has achieved most and performed at the highest level...:huh

    Why is everyone giving Froch so much praise for going to the USA to fight Taylor? He didn't go out of choice.

    Froch fought Taylor in the USA because he had to. Taylor was his mandatory defense and he wouldn't come to Nottingham.

    I watched the fight and I'm English and wanted Froch to win but I must say that Taylor outboxed, outclassed, outspeeded and basically schooled Froch for 11 rounds. Froch looked like a robot and had no answers.

    I was excited when he won but I have to say I felt REALLY sorry for Tayor. He had it completely in the bag, he could have just skipped around the ring and held for the last 2 minutes.
