    Well, that would still make up a very special sample. AFAIK (and I know it from my own 5+ years universitary background in Midi) the only Southern city where the local accent is not so dominant is Montpellier. BTW, at that time I had the occasion to meet some nice Québécoises as foreign exchange students. :)

    That's the result of a linear combination between "le Canadzien" & neutral French. :) More seriously, most people exhibit the tendency to attribute slightly strange accents in their tongue to the opposite part of their linguistic domain. This feature combined with a slightly higher similarity between Canadian French and Nord/Picardie variety of French (at least at the level of the phonetic base of articulation) should have done the deal in your case. But after all, I think that your official France French accent should have improved more than enough après le stage.
