It seems hard to believe that Kovalev couldn't take plenty of clean hits from Canelo when he could take flush shots from guys the size of Pascal, and particularly that whole head-shot volley from Yarde recently. But the problem is PEDs, isn't it. Just as Malignaggi suggests, it's a little ridiculous a fight between elite guys so many natural divisions apart would be competitive let alone that the guy whose never fought at 175 would be the favourite. So if Canelo does come out and KO's Kovalev like a heavy handed 175'r, than I suppose maybe we're underestimating what these performance enhancers can do. I think all bets are off with the whole GB-Canelo monstrosity.

Yes and for all that speed and variety he was eating Golovkins jab every time it was thrown.Granted he's good at evading the big shots but the man with a good straight jab will do well against Canelo imo.

Canelo doesn’t even hit hard for a middleweight, there’s no new information here.
The point is that Canelo will land more frequently than Yarde, to the body, and Kovalev won’t be able to see them.
All Kovalev can do in this fight is try to jab his way to victory.

Because Kovalev will fade due to being a war torn 36 yr old on a 10 week turnaround facing a much younger & fresher juicer with an iron beard! I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying all this.. There's a reason why cinnamon is a 4-1 betting favourite.. I'd love Kovalev to knock the cheating **** out but even u yourself acknowledge he's pretty 'shot'.. how many more hard fights are in him at this stage? He's probably had one too many as it is.. I loved the Yarde performance but he took punishment even against someone that limited & it all adds up..

What?!?!?! I can't believe I just wrote that. But the man deserves a ton of credit when credit is due.

But you all really should watch it, it's him at maybe the most earnest and genuine I've seen him discuss anything in this sport. He's seriously concerned here, and is asking, just what the **** are Canelo's handlers thinking.

    Angel always speaks sense.

Canelo handlers are feeding their boy to the dogs.

his handlers are cashing out!! Golden Boy realized it's not a profitable business model to always pay off the judges... Canelo has came out publically just days before this fight, saying that Oscar isn't "loyal"..... hmmmmm, why is that? because he doesn't wanna keep paying off the judges? it's a wrap, Canelo is on his own here lol

You know what, not me but a friend of mine a while ago (a few weeks) said he believed Oscar was trying to get Canelo beaten because he is jealous of Canelo and his Mexican star status.

I sort of didn't even really let those comments swirl around my brain, it went in one ear and and straight out the other, not out of disrespect for my friend but when people start talking what are essentially conspiracy theories I sometimes switch off when there isn't some blatant evidence.

Also, I don't believe Kovalev beats Canelo, but taking a step back and trying to make a case for Kovalev.. well there is a huge size different, Kovalev, isn't that slow, has a monster jab and can punch (when he was at his best).

Let's remember how Kovalev could/can box for a minute, Hopkins couldn't deal with him and Hopkins was slippery, Alvarez II he was disciplined, accurate and focused and proved he has the IQ to change a few things tactically and won convincingly.

Held his own against Ward, I'm not getting in to that debate but gave Ward a real scare in the first fight.

Kovalev if in the right frame of mind, genuinely has something left and really wants it could be dangerous and a real handful.

Now throw in all this Oscar Vs Canelo beef and blatant feud that is now growing in full view of the public and I have to ask the question "has Oscar had enough, is jealous and wants Canelo beaten up"?

Does Oscar want to get Canelo damaged? Is the beef that bad? Has Oscar heard whispers that Canelo might want to move on (over to Matchroom maybe) and made this fight hoping he gets beaten and his value drops somewhat?

I don't know but this Oscar Canelo beef isn't ideal for Canelo, it isn't a good look and it is getting people asking questions about why this fight was made when there were far more interesting fights and maybe even more money to be made in other places.

I don't know, I'm just thinking out loud, is this all just a stunt to get more people interested? We will see what happens but Canelo saying "Oscar isn't loyal" is a huge statement and one that in my opinion was a genuine one.

Kovalev should jab and tie Canelo up when he tries to get inside. Then land the right hand when he tires out.
