I really don't think it matters as much as some believe. If you weigh in under the limit the weight you put on is only water

"wouldn't it be easier to re-hydrate since your body can cut weight easier?"
It would be easier to de-hydrate. I wouldn't imagine gulping down a bottle of water would be any harder. It makes sense in the sense that people are still growing in their 20's. 26 isn't old. He can de-hydrate just fine but but a larger body is going to have a larger fight night weight

"If he was a 35 year old man like GGG, do you think it would be possible to get away with that and still perform effectively?"
No, I've made the point multiple times in the past that if Canelo continues his career the way he has he's going to hurt his longevity.

"This is why GGG doesn't weigh more than 171 pounds during fight night."

GGG weighs what he does because IBF sanctioned bouts have a 10 lb rehydration clause. Golovkin weighs under 170 the morning of his fights for the IBF specific weigh in which gives him a few hours to hydrate a couple more pounds before the fight starts.

"yet the Bumluvkinites would have you believe that Canelo is bigger than Hopkins because of what he weighs during fight night.."
173 > 166 imagine that. The notion that fighter A is larger than fighter be because Fighter A weighs more than Fighter B while in the ring during the actual fight is a concept grounded in logic. Fighter A being smaller than Fighter B despite weighing more during the fight because 24 hours ago his younger body gave him the ability to drain more water from him with fewer consequences is a notion based on mental gymnastics. If Hopkins wanted to keep his weight low and stay skinny to lessen the burden of the weight drain process then thats on him.

"Now tell me, who's the bigger man in your opinion? Mind you, Daniel Geale is 5'11 and Canelo Alvarez is 5'7, the same height as Cotton."
The one with Broader shoulders, larger arms, Thicker torso, and thicker legs.

If Alvarez is 5'9, he would be 2 inches taller than Cotton.

It's okay though, I forgive you for your ignorance. Bumluvkinites are limited in boxing knowledge and I don't mind educating the ignorant.

The likes of Odlandier Solis, Dustin Nichols and Bermane Stiverne struggle enough to make weight in the first place without introducing rehydration clauses and same day weigh ins.

Calling strawman on a post that uses your exact arguments word for word to form the reply. Not only do you not know what a strawman is but you don't even bother discussing the topic you are so invested in. If all you're going to do is dump your opinion and then ignore everything posted in response why even make an account?

Same day weigh-ins can be dangerous if fighters have drained to make weight and fight that night with no energy or limited energy by rushing to re-hydrate. think friday weigh-ins should stay but rehydration limits NEED to be introduced. or you know, fighters could do a crazy thing like fight at their actual weight

    But it isnt all beneficial.

Cut too much weight and you'll be drained.

As long as the rules are the same for everyone, I dont see the problem.

It's not as advantage all the times. It can completely backfire as the extra will drag and tire a fighter in the later rounds. These are grown men, they knew what they were getting into once they signed that contract. Khan could of come in heavier or 200lbs if he wanted he's just making up excuses. He used his speed very well, but against elites he's always failed. He has a beautiful bodyshot like the one he used on Maidana and Judah yet he doesn't use it anymore. Great speed, but very low boxing IQ.
