My issue with guys like Itauma and Bam

I'd argue most heavyweights today aren't even close to been active enough. It's not fair to lump all the blame on Itauma for that though, he's moving fairly quickly for a modern day prospect considering the recent injury. Hell, he's far more active than Usyk appears to be at the moment.

 

Itauma turned down the Sanchez fight which would've been an actual test so the inactivity is on him aswell.

As for promising ? We don't know anything about Itauma yet he hasn't even been hit back with a solid punch.

Moses is on PPV after 13 fights in, Tyson wasn't
Also not all of Tysons fights were widely available in the very early stages of his career
Itauama's are and people are being asked to pay additional money to watch him

People know Tyson had financial backing but guess what so does Moses
Moses now cannot go back to fighting journey men and the level of opposition know they can try and squeeze more cash for a potential beating

How many punchers did AJ fight at that point though?

And is it Itauma's fault that Whyte couldn't land a punch on him? I'd personally like to see Itauma square off against the winner of Wardley/Dubios as that should answer some questions and seems the appropriate step forward, or even against the winner of Wilder/Chisora. The fact that anyone else feels like a backwards step is telling to me.

Moses fighting on ppv is evidence that he must generate money which funds his career.

Mike Tyson had some of “all star team” of the top managers, execs and matchmakers investing in his career to not put him on ppv too soon and to build him. He was basically adopted they took that much care of him.

Who is financially backing Moses like that?

 

You are right. The days of prospects fighting a whole bunch of times a year are mostly gone. Which, IMO, shows in their physiques as well as technique and stamina. And no-one is blaming Itauma about anything (That I saw). But all those 1 & 2 round wins are NOT going to get you rounds to improve your game. I like he was active at first. But the last coupe of years, it's teetering off. Just two fights last year. Maybe he'll be more active this year. I don't know who he can fight to get a good ten rounder in, but I think that's what he needs.

Usyk's inactivity is an annoyance of itself. I love watching him fight, but just drop the f'n belts if this is his play.

Both fighters were scoring early stoppages except Joshua was more active than Itauma and won a commonwealth belt.

Neither fighter had been tested at that point.

As for Whyte he had no legs and was a long way off the contender he once was. I don't think anyone believed that was a real test based on Whyte's inactivity and his prior fight to Itauma.

I'll started getting on the hype train when Itauma beats a legitimate top 10 Heavyweight.

 

People expected Whyte (shot though he was) and Franklin to give Itauma, who is a prospect btw, a test that lasted longer than 2 minutes and 5 rounds respectively.

I'd say Itauma looks far more impressive than AJ did at the same points of their professional careers. The kid is only 21 and is potentially in line for a world title shot in the next year or two. Hell, throw them in there now and I'd expect Itauma to take AJ out inside of 4 rounds based on ability alone.

I still think Itauma has yet to be truly tested, but he has more than impressed me so far considering what a lot of other heavyweights are up to.

Moses opponents ARE asking for more money than they would to fight a standard prospect that's been mentioned in a number of interviews with the Warren's and it's very believable

Why was Tyson the only prospect bring bought on like that? You've answered it and again I've not said your wrong
I just don't think his opponents were getting paid as highly as say you might

The thing you mention about times have changed not being the answer to everything, I mean I never said it was but I firmly believe it's playing a huge part in the career of Moses

moses is like every other high profile prospect. opponents are asking more than a standard prospect which is completely standard. From amir khan to aj, opponents can want multiple what they normally get.

bam isn’t even just defending titles, he’s chasing more. He’d never be in the ring with a guy with Franklin’s resume at this point.

I don’t get why he’s in this discussion at all. He’s doing literally everything you’d want a young world champ to be doing.

I was Trying to understand your point about how Moses can’t replicate Tyson due to a change in times.
When in any time, nobody replicated Tyson so times has nothing to do with it.
