IOANNIS (SP) I mean as far as getting in and out-if you get in and are domintating as the shorter guy, shouldn't you stay in until your opponet escapes or drops? As opposed to getting in and letting off, getting out and having to work your way back in. I guess it is a matter of style- My style is like Bazooka's fighter except I don't have as much action as him when out of punch range. I stalke like trinidad and try to move my body like tyson. I think if I was as busy on the outside as Bazooka's fighter I would do better.
Very nice work man.. Clean shots for sure. I like Mathews aggresiveness and movement. Maybe work on keeping his hands a bit higher? Did not really need to in this one though. Good times. Lets get together soon man. Keep up the hard work, it showed in this one bro.
I always tell him to move his head, assume they will jab even if they dont, if your slipping your head is moving making you a much harder target to hit as your stepping on the inside, it also allows him to shift his weight so he can get off when he sees the opening kind of how Iron Mike use to the man is short 5'3 he has to fight like that, this guy was very tall so the idea was for him to get that head movement going and slip his way in and let his hands go. Does he hit? **** yes he can bang i have been telling people this from the get you really dont under stand his power unless you have sparred with him or done mit work with him. and to answer the last question when he gets inside I want him to step around after he gets his shots off, not to step out, but around and throw more before the other guy can reset his feet, he does this very well in sparring I was hoping to see it in this fight but ill take the quicky in this one.
I would say your trainer did the right thing, Honestly you always get the first time jitters going in, maybe if the guy had one fight cool but by their 4th fight usally they have settled into it more while this is still your first time, they would have that edge alone going for them and for a short fight like this, by the time you worked out the jitters more than likely the fight would have been over. My kid had 1 fight going in, the other guy had 0 fights both Novice.
Thank you, yes we are going to work on that for sure, he didnt do anything right until the last few seconds from there that was all it took, imagine had he done it right when the bell rang:think
Step to the side as in how Tyson steps to the right so that his left hook lands into the front of his opponets face?
its sort of like stepping under that right hand banging the left hook to the body the right to the body the left to the head and the right to finish it, that was what he through to stop the show. its not exactly Tysons style he is still green but we are going that dirrection with him becuase of his height
A right hook is hard to thro. I get off balance. I just started learning over hand right. My coach only showed my the straight right over the years.
its really not as hard as you think, once you fire that left hook your weight shifts to the other leg allowing you to throw that right hook to the body which sets up a left hook either to the head or the body again and from there you can throw another right hand, in that sequence it was left hook (Body) Right hook (Body) Left Hook (chin) straight right hand (chin)
nice punch. When I saw the wee guy I thought he was gonna be a plodder but he looks light on his feet and fast...even if it was only a minute or so. does he really hit hard or did the praying mantus have a glass chin? anyway, congratulations.
No glass chin I dont think, I know for sure my kid can bang, I have sparred with him myself, and let me tell you when he hits you your teeth rattle, it hurts when he lands even when he isnt loading up that **** just hurts. it was 19 seconds and the kid was out:good
He looked a little unsettled at first. Looking down and a bit wild. When he settled back a little and actually looked at who he was punching it didn't last very long. Congratulations Bazooka. He needs to tighten up his hooks a little also, he is looping them some. Just my two cents. Tell him good job and keep working hard.
He knows the mistakes made in that fight, though it was short he knows he was a bit wild, had his hands down didnt focus on his balance until he settled down. we are working this all becuase he knows his next fight is going to be a hard fight, he knows that he is going to face a man who can take that shot and walk right through it. so we are back in the gym and looking to fight in a couple of weeks from now.
