Thanks that's brilliant greysnotsoold no-one's ever told me bout my stance, really need to correct it cos I have no snap on my punches, I can bang on the pads but when I get in the ring I just can't seem to put the guys away, I think it's cos I've been in the gym for years but only recently started fighting the transition's harder than it looks in terms of punching technique.

Ah sorry lefty, meant to say left-handed but couldn't fit it into the thread title...Your right, bout boxing on the inside, it's alot harder than it looks though, I try to keep a fight at my pace so I can up it or slow it down when I want, when boxing on the inside I get flustered when I can't control the pace & get very messy, I'll try upload a different fight when a lad is walking me down constantly & banging on the inside, I look crap....cheers mate definitely stuff to work on

Ha,ha I know Jeff not blowing smoke up my own arse, but I'd be embarrassed to post some of the other vids I've seen on here....defo got loads to work on cos I wanna do well in the ABA's then judging of that might turn over....you're mega coach, experienced amateur & pro, with the right tweaks can I make it?

Thanks mate. Of course you can. I think you look good- make the right changes and you'll do well. Your doing well already and look tidy- i'd just look at the things suggested here- what gym are you at? I'll have a proper watch later and give you some more suggestions I had to watch on my iphone and couldn't see it properly and i'm at work now.

Just had another quck watch- at 1:30- 1:45 ish when you were under pressure you began to struggle a little. Not majorly but you lost control and there is something there that you should be doing but you didn't.

Right now you have two things you can do in a fight you can throw and counter or you can back off and give yourself room. But your missing that skill of being able to stay composed on the inside and that would likely prove a little bit fatal (sic) as a pro because over 6-8 rounds you'd have to be prepared to engage at that range.

I'd try and find some people who want to learn to box on the inside themselves and work using that three shot drill I suggested a while back. It will help you stay relaxed and composed under pressure.

Good feet will correct a lot of the punching mistakes and being able to fight on the inside will develop your repetoire of shots. Was good when I watched it again mate. Well done- you remind me a little of Kris Agei-Dua who I boxed in prizefighter - that kind of style. In and out- its nice to watch.

But concentrate on your weakest parts- I bet you struggle even in sparring with a decent pressure fighter- and thats why. There's lots of facets to what needs improving, defence, up close reactions and counters. Mental and physical responses to pressure. etc etc.....

I bet scrap could make some great suggestions for you- he'd love that style I think.

Currently I'm boxing for 3 para in Colchester had a handful of civi bouts aswell but mostly army....Agei-Dua didn't like it on the inside either, that three-shot drill's really good but our trainings mostly based around fitness rather than skill, do you still coach amateurs?

  9. If i can say opinion as an amateur, i would suggest more commanding footwork for generalship. Left right forward bacj, you could have turned the pressure on more and cut off the ring more. Judges (here atleast) look for that. (you still had the generalship in the vid though)

I saw the jab looks ready to be thrown many occasions and looks potentially dangerous but you didn't really stick it into his face enough, you seemed to waiting for potential clean counter shots over his lead. Not worth the risk imo and not as much generalship/aggression or points in doing that. Stick the jab and dictate the pace with that as well.

I noticed with your lead hand dropped you relied on reflexes and head movement for defense. That will probably not work as well in the ABA, especially against pressure fighters or people with sharp right hand so maybe hands up more to keep the points on your side. More work on left hook and body rip sharp short punches as always. I hope not too critical, enjoyed the fight a lot looks like worthwhile having a go in the abas

Bit random but do you train alot of amatures? And is it only an exclusive thing?
If not mind telling me the price you charge etc i might be stuck in blackpool for a few months and don't want to miss training + if i get an opp to train alongside or by a respected pro i would jump at it
