first round not enough jabs to set up the right hand. your either half throwing your jab or throwing it and thats it. your throwing your right hand over your head and clubbing him with it. which is y he can see it coming from yesterday. your jabbing then bringing in your head and throwing your right. second round you still arent using your jab to score or set up shots. throwing a little straighter right but still clubbing and throwing from behind you. leading with your head after jabs. straight right scored a couple times when it was straight. didnt when it was over your head like a breast stroke. third was better but you still arent using the jab to score or set up rights. no doubles or triples. not even to the body. he won the first, second was closer, third was you.
I think you did real well against a guy with such a long reach. He's a lefty and you were accidentally moving into his left cross.. gotta move the other way. The best defense against a lefty is your left hook and then a straight right. It's easy to armchair coach the fight and I know you can't always see the whole picture when you are fighting, but in the future when a guy is resting his jab on his waist - as soon as he throws it, tap it down and drill him with a straight right (if he's a southpaw) - A right hander, just come right over the top and drill him with a straight right. When a guy is forced to raise his jab while throwing it, it is a great opportunity to nullify it by tapping it down because it doesn't have any momentum yet. Also, the first priority against a guy with a longer reach (especially such a reach as his) is to get inside- that is place you want to be because he can't punch you at all (or at least without ANY power). I think you did great especially against a southpaw with a longer reach. Keep it up!
I see you paid no attention to what I posted ! In the third you were even warned for using the inside of the Glove! YOU DIDN't Win. It was not close Go and improve and stop falling for the trap of new boxers. You have Friends with no knowledge that tell you looked great and you won. You ego is bruised but that is not always a bad thing.
I agree with the critiques put forth so far, you need to reinforce the fundamentals of your balance, jab, and upper body movement, as they are your tools for getting inside, and try either cutting off the ring or getting his angle by stepping to his right for a southpaw (storiale gave great advice)... you did well considering his style and size and put forth a good effort. Good job and keep at it.
