I am sorry to hear you can no longer fight, but you have a family to look after so your health must come first.:thumbsup

just a bit surprised as i looked at chois record willie limond beat him a little while back on points, it really looks like on that night against matthews the guy fought the best fight he had in his life and really pulled of a shock!

i know loads of fighters some good friends some just to spar with or just to say how you doin?thats how i knew choi to say hello to.im happy matthews got a dose of his own medicine and got humiliated i never ever had that happen to me i was only down 3 times at most all my career derry gave me a nice compliment though so i dont want to gloat in his hardest moments now he said after the fight in my good ear im the toughest guy hes ever fought or sparred so that was nice.its very hard to be happy at a boxer whos taken a savage beating if youve been a boxer yourself even if youve fought and niggled each other in the months leading up to it its somthing only another boxer would understand what im saying.its a very alpha male kinda sport when you lose you feel ill like the guy took a part of your manhood as you were beaten up,its a cruel sport.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you make from your fight career? That sounds like an expensive house!
What was your highest purse, as well?

no hard feelings brother im just a bit private at giving out info to strangers online.put it this way i wasnt earning even really good money it was better as it went along i probably made more from sponsors and an endorsement with admiral, sporting clothing after i won the midlands title a guy who owned a big sports shop in stafford got me to sign gloves for kids and get photos taken with them in his shop then offered me a really great financial offer to wear only admiral clothing for 3 years.the talk at the time was i was destined for big things in boxing and i would have if that mofo referee hadnt robbed me by 1 point to fight for the british title, anyway i made the odd guest appearance in the midlands like birmingham and wolverhampton at dinners ans **** like that but i earned a right good earner from the admiral deal and i have still got over 1000 brand new t shirts packed away somwhere trainers hoodies all that bollocks i should have a yard sale!hahaha

Looks like you had a very solid chin to have not been knocked out, considering some of the boxers you've been in with. I've given Dirty Derry a lot of stick over the years, but he's a very good boxer. It's rare that a boxer has 14 fights at that level and never gets KO'd. Props mate. :thumbsup

It's a shame about the diabetes, but better safe than sorry. It's sad to think that, 100 years ago, a boxer with diabetes wouldn't have got it diagnosed in time and would have probably died in the ring.

Winning record as a boxer + family + trade as an electrician = something a lot of lads would kill for

EDIT: what was with the nickname? 5"10 as a featherweight and you were called Stumpy?
