When i run my left calf becomes unbelievably sore, to the point where i have to stop running, it feels as if near the middle of my calf is going to explode out of my leg if i had to describe it. Why does this happen is it a pulled muscle or something and how can i fix it ? (It usually starts to hurt about 7 or 8 minutes into the run i guess and i just keep going until it hurts too much and i have to stop)
What type of shoes are you wearing when you run? Are you wearing the correct shoes for your foot type? Do you need orthotics? Are you properly warmed up and stretchted? What type of surface are you running on? Is it an uneven surface? Are you running with correct form? Many factors to consider
Sometimes i run just barefoot because it was shown in some study i saw that it was better but i usually run in just regular running shoes. i think i am properly stretched before i run and it's an uneven surface on the pathways along the roads. I believe i am running with correct form.
Could be a number of things. But I would suggest you dont Stretch enough, but you wouldnt be the 1st .
I get a similar problem the left side of my left foot, but never been able to determine why, been to the docs/hospital but they cannot find anything medically wrong, so the only thing I can think is shoe type.
Well I guarantee you're not going to get the answer on an online forum. A couple of possibilities (out of hundreds): maybe you're planting your feet differently in anticipation of the pain. A subconscious adjustment could be undetectable to you, but totally manifest itself into actual pain. Or a more serious possibility, compartmentalism. In any case, if the symptoms persist for longer than a week, consult another website......just kidding.....go see a doctor. Good luck!
I have the same problem with my left calf. I'm an orthodox fighter and my right calf is bigger and more muscular from being on my toes more on my back foot, hence it can withstand more rope jumping and running. I do calf raises with my left leg to strengthen it.
