I was doing deadlifts and I was little tired after work and wasn't paying to much attention to my posture and doing it the right way and I guess I was lifting it more with my back than my legs and at the end of 2nd set I felt pain in my lower back. I stopped exercise completely and didn't even finish the rest of my workout. Next 2 days were horrible where I even had problem with walking straight cuz the pain was so intense. After 3-4 day it started to wear off and now week later it pretty much went away or what I thought that it did. So I started little warming up jumping rope, did round on double end bag and then 1 round on heavy bag. At the end I hit the bag with left hook and the pain came back. Not as bad as the first time, maybe 50% of what it was before but I thought that I will be ok. Now should I give it more time to recover and just stop working out completely? did something like this ever happen to anyone? Damn I was in such a good shape and getting better and better and this happens. I HATE IT!! Ive been off for a week and now it looks like I need take more time to recover. I was ok after 2 miles run but I guess more physical training is out for now. sucks:-(!!
DO NOT DO DEADLIFTS! For now anyways. The same thing happened to me, I was doing a heavy double about a year ago, thought I looked cool and ended up messing up my lower back for a little while. Take a month or so off from deadlifts/rack pulls and still work your upper back and the rest of your body. If it all possible, don't do any kind of motion that is going to involve you turning your body very quickly either (hooks and the like.) I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but trust me, it will help you out in the long run.
what about the time jack and some of his boys gave some lovin' to you? i'm sure that was bad for their backs too.
not deadlifts but a coupl of years ago i was doing some heavy squats, and two of my friends where spotting me and on my last rep i told them 2 get ready to take it off me as i was coming back up one of my friends took the weight off me but the other one was day dreaming so all the bar and my left side dropped to the floor tearing my quad and hams, very painful. never touch deadlifts or heavy squats again.
yes i still lift quite often i tend to keep the weight lower these days tho i dont like getting to bulky which i found i was 5' 10 and 13 and a half stone dropped down to just over 12 now and iv got loads of energy , i dont do squats or deadlifts at all though. do you do much lifting in your routine??
my week tends to see me the other way inclined 4 days of cardio light session on sunday and 3 days of weight training.
i do bicep tricep one day, back and chest the next time then shoulder and legs on the other day, splits it up pretty well usually takes about hour and a half a session.
