I put it up on youtube if you guys want to check it out. I'm a Novice in the 178lbs Division. I'm the one with white headgear and white trunks.

Why are the rounds 1 minute?

Your form is good. How do you feel you did? Aggression is often rewarded in ams.

I felt like I won. The rounds are shorter in Novice. I thought they were a minute and a half but I'll have to look at the video again to be sure.

Good job. Keep your hands up more, especially with aggressive guys since the ams is points based.

Sometimes if there are alot of fights on the card they drop the time one min, usally they are 2 min rounds but if they have a ton of fights they have to adjust the ring clock so that all the bouts they have take place in a timely manner.
Good job kid, However I would suggest you work on getting in the center of the ring and staying there, you were in a defensive posture for the entire fight and in the eyes of the judges it looked like the other man was in full command he fought his fight by backing you up putting you on the ropes and letting his hands go.
Keep it up though you did well, also work on that jab, if you used your jab a bit more rather than waiting on him you would have been able to fend him off in spots:good

That makes sense. I was also wondering if maybe there was a young cadet fight before it or something and they just didn't reset the clock. For any novice fight in this age category I thought were 2 min rounds.

I think OP if you watch this fight again, instead of likely watching what you are doing during the fight (which is natural if we are watching ourselves) watch it one time thru and make a point to only watch your competitor. You will notice his aggressive style and how it kept you on your back foot. If you do fight as a counter puncher in the ams...your counters really need to be making a statement and snapping the head back and making lots of noise to get full credit for them. If it is close a decision it almost always go to the aggressor. Just how it goes so I've seen and found.

Yeah they felt great for sure. Um... I think he was maybe 5'8? I'm 5'11 so you can judge from that I guess.
