I gave Canelo I think 3 of the last 5 rounds on my scorecard, although they were close so I would agree with 10-2 type of score. I think 12-0 like some people had it was a bit too generous to Floyd, anywhere though 11-1 (at a slight push), 10-2, 9-3, to 8-4 at a bigger push (if you gave Canelo an even first round and 3 of the last 5). I think there's a danger of looking back retrospectively and almost subconsiously looking to give rounds to the loser in a fight.
It was a close fight in my opinion. By no means a domination but a good performance from mayweather none the less.
Absolutely! Mayweather looked more in his comfort zone and Canelo looked somewhat (not all) frustrated as he was looking to catch Mayweather clean with harder shots. The thing is though that you dont judge a fight on body language. You judge it on whats actually happening. The leverage and intent behind the punches, the effective connects, etc....... As Canelo was made to miss and not catch clean in many instances, so to was Mayweather. Mayweather threw and landed some good shots sure, but so to did he land lots of push jabs and had alot of his punches not reach or outright blocked by Canelo. Canelo though he thought he lost, alluded to Mayweather finding his gloves more than he found him. If I look at the whole fight and not score with pen and paper, I'm going to come out with the impression that Mayweather won going away. He certainly gathered more style points than Mayweather. .....but sit down and jot down round by round with pen and pencil and you have decisions to make as to which fighter is coming out ahead after each uneventful round after the other. Canelo turned the pressure up slightly the last few rounds and he earned those rounds on my card as Mayweather was to lax on the counter. He did'nt do enough to offset Canelo's aggressiveness, particularly to the body. Smiling and posing, skipping and hopping are not part of the scoring criteria. So I would'nt generalize and give an opinion on the fight as a whole, I decided to score and post my scores round by round as I saw them. I have'nt had one post back at me as to how ludicrous my score was in a particular round. Mayweather won his rounds easier without a doubt. However you dont give him a close round down the line because previously he won an easy round or rounds. Just does'nt work that way. "He's still the future of boxing!" Thats a quote from Mayweather about Canelo. I doubt he'd say that if he really thought he dominated the red head the way the media is portraying it. Anyone care to slam any of the rounds I scored for Canelo and call it inept scoring, I'm more than glad to go back and look at that particular round again and see it again. I will say I watched the rounds extra careful knowing I was going to post my scores to the forum. You want to knock some of the rounds I scored for Canelo, at least ****ing rewatch them.
