Marvis says he was getting beat up almost everyday at school because his father was an uncle Tom. I'm not saying Joe shouldn't get over it by now or let it affect him that much in the first place but when your child suffers because some fame hungry, narcistic, disrespectful man is trying to get 'publicity', that is something to be pissed about alright, don't you think?

What was Ali's reason to call Joe an uncle Tom, making him a bad guy or a borderline ****** which he wasn't in public's eyes? What? In those times it had or could have some serious consequences. Not talking about how depressing, mentally destructive the fact itself could be. What if some fool/freak really hurt, shot Joe as a traitor of black race? Yet Ali has acted like he doesn't give a **** in the world. When someone pisses on your life like that it's not hard to feel like killing him but it's very hard to forgive. That's what I know.

That said, it's all past now. It seems like Joe thinks that Ali did manage to **** the common perception of him forever. He should come to ESB and see it's just not true.

Joe should just kill Ali and be done with it.

Very true. Frazier's also guilty of some hypocrisy toward Ali too. I remember when Ali was featured on This Is Your Life back in 1978. Frazier came on and hugged Ali,then made a short speech saying something like "Ladies and gentlemen...we all love him" It's not as black and white as some people seem to think.

Marvis Frazier doesn't even hold a grudge anymore and says his dad should let it go too.

And given Joe's behavior in Facing Ali, I really do feel that he has the hatred there, but he has indeed put it past him. However, it's more lucrative and dramatic for Frazier to show that hatred for Ali, as it hypes up their three amazing fights (as well as this particularly documentary).

I've also seen that and there genuinly seemed to be no ill will there, rather the opposite. Two guys that knew they had brought out the best in each other and made each other a lot of money. Frazier's anger actually seems to have come later. Perhaps he directed his general bitterness at how his life had turned out into bitterness towards Ali.

I love Frazier. I think that maybe some bitterness comes from the fact that Ali is the greater fighter and rightfully celebrated as such. But Frazier was his hard counter and 6/10 times the better man on the night

I cant remember now what got Joe so mad and promted him to drive to Ali's house. But I do remember Joe was ready to rumble. He also made a comment to the Muslim with the gun.Something like what are you gonna do shoot me.
I got the book out of the library about 2 yrs ago so I dont remember the details. One of my favorite Boxing books though. After you read it you will see why Joe feels the way he does.I maybe biase because I used to train at Joe's gym, buy I dont think I am.
