1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Juan Manuel Marquez 3. Floyd Mayweather Jr 4. Bernard Hopkins 5. Israel Vasquez 6. Ivan Calderon 7. Shane Mosley 8. Paul Williams 9. Vic Darchinyan 0. Nonito Donaire
i think israel vasquez should be lower, the man hasn't done **** after that 3rd fight with marquez vic darchinyan higher than williams, he accomplish more, in fact he should be higher than mosley too
Here's mine 1. Pacman 2. Marquez 3. B-Hop 4. Cotto 5. Mosley 6. Calderon 7. Paul Williams 8. Darchinyan 9. Vasquez 10. Adamek Vasquez falls out due to inactivity, Dawson fighting Tarver again doesn't put him on my list, Donaire has P4P skills but lacks the resume, Linares has fought NO ONE OF NOTE (bar a shot Larios) and Cotto moves right up due to Hatton leaving the top 10. With a win over Marquez I'd put Floyd at no.2, but he's not going to jump back in my list due to announcing his return. Would've included Caballero, but I think JuanMa has a good win over Penelosa that equals Caba's over Molitor, so wasn't sure where to place them. Rafael Marquez leaves due to inactivity (I had him about four places below Vasquez as per my last list) Dawson will jump Adamek with a meaningful win :good
I can understand your reasoning for dropping Vasquez, but having Cotto as high as 4th is ludicrous. His only win after losing in dominating fashion to Antonio Margarito is against an unknown named Michael Jennings. It was a mis-match. He has some work to do. I like Adamek. I like his attitude and his style. That said, he hasn't beaten anybody of note to have him in the top 10 P4P just yet. He also got horribly outclassed by Dawson.
He did get outclassed by Dawson, but dropped him, and also, you could make a point that Dawson probably should've lost to Johnson. as I said, Cotto is that high based on people leaving the top ten rather than him moving up. I have him ranked above Mosley due to the fact that he beat Mosley, and whilst Mosley beat Marg, you have to believe that Cotto would've carried on outboxing Toni had his face not been smashed in with plaster-fists:good
I have Ivan Calderon at a fairly high position on my list due to a combination of two factors. He is easily one of the most accomplished technical boxers in the game today, and he has been winning the majority of his fights in fairly dominating fashion, albeit at a very low and not very competitive division. He is also showing extraordinary consistency. He has moved up in weight, which is the only thing you can ask for a fighter to do who is dominating, and he is still winning fights and looking impressive in the process.
It was either Adamek or Haye. And Donaire may have beaten Vic, but hasn't done much since. I think his recent win (whilst he showed some fantastic technique and his opponent was unbeaten) is being blown out of proportion.
Mine 1. Pacman 2. JMM 3. Hops 4. Cotto 5. Mosely 6. Williams 7. Dawson 8. Calderon 9. Darchinyan 10. Donaire Ill put Izzy and Joy in there when I see they come back into the ring.
:good And think, should he beat a weight-climbing Gonzalez or rejuvanated Viloria, he would have a 'defining' fight so to speak. They are winnable fights for Calderon IMO, especially Viloria. Calderon is like, 34 years old???? He hasn't got long left and very well might retire undefeated.
Your last sentence made me laugh. We cannot prove Margarito was cheating in that fight, and the result shows that Miguel Cotto lost by TKO. His fight with Shane Mosley was an extremely close encounter, with many people here believing the decision went to the wrong guy. With that in mind, I've disregarded that fight as neither fighter could display any dominance over the other. The only thing separating them is how they faced off against "plaster fists". :rofl I don't have Dawson on my top 10 list because he has shown to be very vunerable against fairly ordinary competition in Glen Johnson. I expect him to be a future entrant however. If he doesn't get a place yet, neither does the man he dominated.
Hes very undersized for his division even for the division below him but he remains dominant. Probably has the best footwork in the sport today if you dont include Mayweather.
Very fair points, I do think Cotto won that fight. Do you not include Pac's recent 'victory' over Marquez? If you don't include the Cotto-Mosley for both fighters, surely you wouldn't inclue Marquez-Pac 1 or 2 for both fighters??? Personally I had Marquez winning 115-112, but go with the official scorecard nonetheless. I only go against the official card in a robbery, i.e Sweet Pea vs. Chavez :good
Nonito Donaire's last opponent may not have been as impressive as his record initially would have suggested, but you cannot deny how classy Nonito has looked in the ring. Also, his victory over Vic Darchinyan was a domination. He practically won every round before brutally stopping an undefeated fighetr who would come back to dominate P4P entrant Cristian Mijares. His position is justified.
