Puts me in mind of Vito, a loyal helper with my amateur boxing team:

He helped-out six-days-a-week -- for no money.

It was a rough section, 'n all the kids were wiseasses -- a hairsbreadth from prison.

Vito barely spoke a word. Wrapped hands, worked corners, drove kids in the worst weather to smokers in every borough.

One day, he came over to me: "I wish I had this when I was a kid. Maybe I wouldn't 've done some things"

"What'd you do, Vito?"

"Armed robbery 'n kidnapping"

 

I guess everyone has their own set of values, but to me armed robbery 'n' kidnapping are boy scout activities compared to the violation of a child..

It sounds like your pal Vito rehabilitated himself into a decent fellow and may have just been a mixed up kid.

Sexual predators, well, there's no such thing as rehabilitation for them IMO. Once a vulture, always.

Agree, IB. There's no comparison What brought it to mind is: it was something I wasn't prepared to hear, particularly from a low-key guy like Vito.

 

Great photos, Mares and Morel were all class (at least in the ring), very good fight and a "win" for the fans!
