My Observations from Donaire-Rigondeaux

this is what a frustrated fighter does. loads up and throws unmeaningful punches. he gets ridiculed in return. donaire could have landed body punches in there, but his frustration clouded his judgement and instead looks for the money shot which didnt seem to go in his way.

 

yeah and Rigo schooled Donaire by making Donaire be able to barely land while Rigo was landing.

this is what people talk about in schooling Donaire. He just straight out out skills and out thinks him in the fight. You don't care about the feint before hand or him measuring Donaire, you just look at the punch. But everything in that sequence is important and leads to the schooling. Rigondeaux is schooling Donaire and setting things up and Doanire has no idea what is going on. Donaire is sitting there just like you puzzled as to why this guy is leaving his arm out there.

Rigondeaux went against a guy much bigger than him, decently skilled, fast as hell, and p4p one of the most powerful fighters in the game. And he made him look like Chavez Jr.

and Gander what you don't realize is Rigo landed the better and more cleaner punches in almost every round except for the 10th. So your question is BS.

Good breakdown. The only disagreements we have is that I do not believe Donaire was a timid fighter. More frustrated than timid. Does anyone have the GIFs of Donaire going Peeka a Boo and storming out of his corner at Rigo like a man possessed, running into punches at the beginning of the 10th round?

I'm also not sure Rigo's punches were too taxing for Donaire to force a slug-fest. At least that's not the main culprit of why. Again, this lies somewhere with our differences between Donaire's frustrations and inability, rather than timidness which is your viewpoint. While I have no doubt Donaire felt his punches, I saw Donaire risk a lot running into punches. Donaire simply didn't know how to make it a slug-fest. He's just not the high-octane, high work-rate type. Similar to his idol Roy Jones Jr. This may be partly because of the all energy they exert within their style & movement trying to set up the big punches. Not to mention, when Donaire pushed forward trying to force an exchange or altercation, he would just end up getting frustrated because he couldn't land on Rigo. Also, was the Donaire knockdown a result of a left hook or more of a left hand out of the southpaw stance from Donaire. It was really fortuitous for Donaire. I think Donaire didn't follow up because he realized how unhurt Rigo was, and that probably surprised him. He should've taken more of a chance there than at any other moment, I agree.

All the technical observations were just exquisitely broken down Bogo.

I'm aware of waht feinting is used for - my point is if you dont punch then your not doing anything. How times did Rigo actual payoff those feints and set ups with an actual clean punch?

A schooling is Hopkins - pavlik / hopkins - Trinidad. Complete, total outboxing / outclassing.

This is not the case with Rigo Nonito. Both guys got touched up, and Nonito also happened to land the best punch of the fight. It was a tit for tat technical fight for the most part, that Rigo got the better of overall.

He won comfortably , it wasnt a schooling , get over it.

Nonito got bruised up very late in the fight.

I agree. Often when a guy like Donaire who's used to being the fastest guy in the ring and best athlete finally fights a guy who's faster and a better athlete they're shocked and look timid to let their hands go. Donaire knew he was in deep trouble in the very first round when Rigo popped him and beat him to the punch easily. He knew then Rigo had superior reflexes and speed combine that with a style he hasn't really dealt with before and was done mentally after that point.

What I noticed just a few minutes ago after reviewing the last 3, is that Rigo, (even) when he saw Donaire had problems with his eyes and stalked him, didn't cut off the ring. I doubt that he can't but he was just following Nonito.
Something to work on.

 

I guess the schooling was just too advanced for you that you don't comprehend it. It's like teaching calculus to a kindergartner. Here, this guy breaks it down very slowly for you. I haven't started watching it myself either, so u can get a head start :thumbsup

Rigo was not landing any punches :rofl:rofl. He re-arranged Donaire face with hard, crisp and accurate power shots. He hurt him on multiple occasions and severely cut him.

 

*******s are waking up late after the fight...gander just coming up with some funny stuff.

 

I remember thinking at the time how funny it was that donaire tried to then make rigo flinch and he didn't even give a ****, so relaxed haha
