If this fight happens, I predict Cotto by knockout in the 9th round. Why? Well Cotto is bigger than Pacquiao and hits harder than Pacquiao, most importantly Cotto can BOX. Cotto is underrated as a boxer, he's not going to headhunt Pacquiao. He'll use his left jab a lot and right hand, probably bait Pacquiao into slugging with him. Pacquiao showed in fights that he's vulnerable to the left jab and Cotto has a good one.

Cotto had an extensive amatuer career and beat Quintana, Judah, Mosley, and Clottey in the pros. I thought Cotto would of beaten Clottey much more convincingly if there was no cut in his eye.

I disagree...but Im excited about this fight..Its less of a foregone conclusion for me then a few of Pac's last fights.

Its unfortunate in a way they are my two favorite fighters at the moment, I dont want to see either lose...but Pac is my no1 and Im picking him to win this.

I also see Cotto winning, Pacquiao is a slugger. Idk what it is, he's one of my favorite fighters, but when I see him fight i'm worried he's gonna get caught everytime he swings.

I agree that I'm excited by the match-up; not by the apparent (natural or in-the-ring) weight discrepancy.

Solid post. I just think Pac's speed will be the difference.

Pac's speed is fast, but he's the not the prettiest boxer to watch, a lot of his punches looked telegraphed, particularly his straight left. I think Cotto will be blocking a lot of his punches with his gloves. Of course I'm just nitpicking Pacquiao's weaknesses, which he has very few.

I hate to see either guy lose, but a draw is very unlikely, so someone is going to win. The two things I know FOR SURE is that Cotto is not the same animal as an old and dehydrated Oscar, and Cotto will not be foolish ennough to try and bum rush Pac like Hatton did.

Pac's speed - verses - Cotto's size, strength, and power = potential fight of the year.

I think Cotto would beat and stop Pac too.

yeah. speed has always been the key to pac's wictories. the only styles that really bother pac are great counter-punchers and/or very slick boxers with great timing and defense. cotto is neither of them. cotto has basically the same style of coming forward and applying pressure just like pac's most recent opponents and we know what happened in those fights. styles make fights after all.

maybe cotto will find more success if he fights like the final 3rd of the clottey fight. but i don't think he can outbox pac as his D isn't that great and he isn't that slick/fast to confuse a speedster and sharpshooter like pac.

Cotto steamrolls Pac in 5 rounds.

You dudes gotta stop drinking the kool-aid. Sewriously man. Cotto is far from the joke that Hatton is. far from it. He'll get caught , but his chin is solid. But when he catches pac in that corner (and he will) it's curtains...

If this fight is at a catchweight, which it most likey will be, Cotto is doomed. Cotto should accept the fight close to 147, or, no fight at all.

It's a very dangerous fight for Pacquiao but Cotto is ''SO HITTABLE'', he's almost a picnic for counters from Pacman....
