My opinion on why Haye versus Wad did not live up to the hype........................

Haye couldn't reach Wlad, and when he did, the punches didn't land hard because Wlad basically rolled with them or took the effect of of them by leaning back. Wlad had every physical advantage you need, and he fought like a counter puncher. Both fighters took very few chances...

Both are boxers? With their KO ratio? Crackhead...

err, its because they both respected each other's power that they didnt get into the slugfest that the hype sold us.... nothing about being "boxers" stylistically

Larry Merchant held Haye responsible for the fight because HE was the one that was hyping it up and emotionally investing in it. HE was the one that tried to antagonize Klitschko for the past 3 years, JUST to try to get an edge on him. You think a person who has talked all this **** for the past couple years would press the action and be the AGGRESSOR.... yeah, Larry Merchant thought so too.

A couple cues on the downfall of the Heavyweight division. Merchant kept on complaining on it being a snoozefest. RJJ cleared something up early. People specifically watch the Heavyweight with the expectations of the punches to create something big. But what if they dont? Otherwise, the punch output and the lack of action is lackluster in our eyes these days. Why the difference now?

Been preaching - started with the rise of MMA. It provides instant action and uncertainty on the large part. Now, thats even diminishing down as the level of competence and competition increases. Merchant provided some hints when complaining about the "speed" or level of action in the fight. I strongly feel he's used to watching Welterweight action and below, because thats where its at....

In one stroke, Nonito Donaire, a 118 pounder, said it all. These way lighter weights have reached a level of ability where they can literally 1-shot each other! In fact, alot of the top Welt and below are racking up ridiculous KO/TKO ratios. In old world thinking, only Heavyweights w/ their mass could consistently provide a KO for the eyes to see. Not anymore.

IF the guys twice as small are blowing each other's boots off, exactly WHAT does the Heavyweight division provide that the lighter divisions dont? NOTHING. All the while, these much lighter divisions are providing 50% more action, which competes w/ MMA's action.

    oh sorry....
    METH-HEAD!!!!!

wasnt your opinion on both of them being a boxer a "crackhead" opinion?
If you were to ask each one of them if they consider themselves as a boxer or a puncher, i think you know the result. Peeps need to think things out around here instead of throwing out goofball excuses of why things didnt happen....

being called a crackhead isnt abusive around here....

When you fight someone like Wladimir Klitschko, you need to be careful and have a tactical plan. Like a chess match.

Haye reached Wlad several times by timing the jab and coming over it with the overhand right that, regardless of what you may think, landed enough to mark Klitschko and shake him up a bit. Wlad had a reach advantage but he didn't really show me any sort of skill advantage and I lost respect for his skill when his supposedly educated jab was missing all kinds of ugly against a guy who, while hesitant to punch, did come into range all night with hands down with near impunity. I was even more disappointed when his right hand couldn't even bust that shitty mug of Haye's. Granted, he probably would have cracked the egg had he actually hit him flush more than twice but the fact that he didn't is extremely unimpressive, as well.

So, both men were extremely unimpressive in a myriad of ways, Haye has a worse glass heart and a slightly less glassy chin than I originally thought, Wlad still hasn't convinced me that he's anything more than an above-average HW in an era with a plethora of subpar contenders, and HW boxing generally sucks as usual.

just a simple case of two boring fighters making a boring fight. happens way too often. haye's flopping made it even more annoying. but what can you do. they conned people into thinking there finally was going to be a meaningful hw fight, instead you get the same kind of garbage.

Vlad is a good fighter with lots of skills, but if he had gone to Haye's body he would have stopped Haye. There is talk of a Vitali/Haye fight, I would love to see it, Vitali will stop Haye, no doubt about it. Also some talk of a rematch of Vlad/Haye, we will see...........

Just like you said, Holyfield would stand his ground, slip and counterpunch every shot. That strategy is too risky and plays right into Wlad's hands.

Wlads been knocked out when fighters fight him that way. Haye didn't have to fight this way for all 12 rounds, just at times is what I said.
