Honestly i still dont quite comprehend why G-man lost to Benn, by all means that fight should've been won by Gerald, and Benn shouldnt have had the power to knock Gerald out. I consider it a freak accident

Ortiz was never a Featherweight. He fought mostly as a junior welterweight before he reigned as lightweight champion.

Jackson is a fighter I like a lot but he’s not in the class of a Cokes, Griffith or Perkins.

Re; the brain damage. Jofre fought until 40 and seldom even got hurt let alone beaten so badly by a fighter of Benn’s caliber.

Lol in what universe is Benn greater than Harada? He was never even the champ? A belt holder yes, but never champ!

Monzon is not in your top 4 MW’s but is considered among the most dominant champs of any era? SRR is considered by most the greatest MW (not me but he is clearly top 4).

Benn Seen as champ in 0 fights
Is greater than Harada Flyweight champ bantam champ 66-68?

Or Jofre 1959-1965 bantam champ...losing only to Harada when past his best and weight drained... retired for a year came back and won the FW belt and beat Vicente Saldivar to boot

Nigel Benn was a 2 weight division champ, had 2 wars with Chris Eubank, another top Middleweight, and 3 of his losses were past prime

Suddenly my list is crashing. I ranked Monzon 31st in p4p, and Ketchel 27 iirc. I count Robinson as mainly a Welterweight, so I keep him out of Middleweight ranks. I have him as the greatest Welterweight of all time

How was he past prime??? That fight was in the middle of his career? Is he suddenly Archie Moore?

Benn was a 2 division belt holder he was never seen as the best or unified champ.

The fact that SRR was #1 at WW and top 5 at MW makes it very easy to rate him #1 p4p. Much easier than a guy who won a single abc belt and defended it 3 times without ever really being the man

Sorry, I edited that too late. I don't put Robinson in my Middleweight rankings. If I did, it'd probably look like:

    1. Greb
    2. Robinson

I am an old man with a hernia...I concede this one lol!

It’s not about rating an era above another. It is about contrasting what one accomplished in thier era against another.

I might like Morales or Barrera or Hamed and find them exciting... but when I compare what they did at FW to Vicente Saldivar there is no contest...maybe p4p but not in a straight up FW ranking.

Jofre was 30 which was ancient for bantams back then. He’d also been killing himself making weight. He wasn’t at his best but he did come back years later as a Featherweight and do great but doesn’t mean he was at his best or in his prime. He was just that great.

30 is ancient for a bantam???

See, this is the kind of stuff I don't know. Though maybe it would've been smarter of him to fight at his natural weight

He had already fought 50 times over 8 years, and had been having trouble making weight prior to this. Some feel he won the first fight? If you are going to factor in Walcott being robbed of a decision you need to give every fighter or none the same level playing field.

Then he retired came back at FW and became champ there beating one of the ATG feathers ever in Saldivar along the way.
