    Thank you.

I do try my best to exclude quality threads from the merge dumps (ie ones that are framed in a thoughtful, professional way and have something to say and don't include titles with swears, puerile insults, or slang)...but the slope is slippery, if you allow one quality thread and not the next, or allow ten but not the 11th...wherever you make the cut-off the author of the next thread is going to be salty about it; end of the day, repetitive is repetitive and there's only so much space that any individual match-up can be allowed to hog before it starts to act like a weed in a garden.

I assumed they did the honorable thing and committed seppuku after spamming the board for so long with all that Pacman nonsense.

i know, i tried to think of a system that would work fairly in all situations when i made my suggestion, but realized how difficult, or impossible, that would be. i dont like to criticize unless i have an obvious better alternative.

I understand multiple threads on the same topic is a nuisance to those that want to debate that topic educationally, but what the mods in this forum did with tossing anything related into one thread is worse. By doing that it basically came down to the richest prize fight in boxing history couldn't be discussed in this forum by joining every thread into one like that.

I like the way they did it way back before In the 90's in the old "Secondsout forum" the mods back then actually did what their title said they should do. They'd moderate.
If someone started a like thead that was already on the front page, instead of joining that thread with 100's of others in one thead, they'd simply delete that thread and note on the thread, that there is already a like thread on the same page.

The way they've come to do it here is simply a copout by the mods and a simple way for them to avoid having to moderate.

What the hell do the mods actually do here besides tossing threads into a shithole? They certainly don't moderate.

yeah, but the amount of material that has to be read and categorized is a whole lot of work for someone not getting paid.
the only thing i dont like about merging threads, is that i could be really into a good discussion, leave for a few hours, and when i come back there is 30 pages ahead of the discussion i was into and the topic completely forgotten. but, in fairness, i could start a new thread about that same topic... but then i would be pushing someone elses discussion into the far back pages.
what it comes down to, no matter what system is in place, someone aint gonna like it.
