I like Miguel Cotto, and I think he's the toughest challenge for Pac to date, moreso than DLH and Hatton. I also don't believe he's shot, AT ALL. However, in my view, I think he's a terrible matchup for Pac, and here's why: 1-Cotto has trouble with southpaws. Corley and Judah both gave him some problems although he beat both. 2-Cotto has a difficult time getting out of the way of straight shots, mostly due to his hand positioning. While he can change this, I think he has a very good chance of going into shock when he experiences Pac's speed and combination punching. 3-Cotto isn't fast enough, IMO, to catch Pac coming in and out. I see Pac giving Cotto a lot of angles and keeping him unable to pull the trigger. 4-Cotto has a good short right hand but a poor one at a distance, which is where this fight is going to take place. I see this as a HUGE problem. Overall I think Cotto may have a tough time in the beginning, find his rhythm around the 3rd, but eventually take some heavier leather in the 5th until he's ultimately stopped in the 6th, maybe 7th round.
I think they are both each other's toughest challange to date and that's what makes this so exciting to watch. Its either going to be a barnstormer with both fighters showing a high level of skill or it might even be a quick knockout with one completely outclassing the other. Either way, there is so much on the line tonight for these guys and a lot of questions will be answered
trouble with southpaws? He won every round after the 2nd against Judah and battered him into taking a knee twice. He did get caught by Corley but then knocked him out. and his best performance of his career is dismantling the left handed Quintana. Pacquaio has really won over the public with 3 pretty dominant wins but would of Cotto done with Diaz,Oscar and Hatton.. On the same line of thinking how would Manny of fared with Mosely,Jennings,Margarito and Clottey. Cotto is being underestimated here and Pacqauio is being really over valued ..this is a pick em fight
cotto is definitly being underestimated here.people are making it look like he is going to come out with his hands down and eat every shot pacman throws.and not land any of his own.they are horribly mistaken.
Good analysis & I have to agree with you on your prediction, only maybe even sooner, like rounds 4 or 5.
Why are you comparing the weight drained, shot DLH that fought Pac to the hungry, powerful, peak Cotto?
Ill go with Cotto TKO 10th. When Pac trades shots with him (and its going to happen, Pacquiao won't pot shot all night) its over, his chin wont take the left hook!
