My proposal to circumvent controversial decisions (maybe)...

    Here it is:

Why not develope an electronic scoring system!

    It would work like this:

No, and I mean NO judge would be allowed to use pen and paper but would just have a computer in front of him that would let them score each round with no look at their scoring beforehand.

The scoring would be saved to a server to which the supervisor would have a read-only access to write the scoring down on paper in case the system shuts down and for double-checking.

Also, the system would be a simple cable LAN to prevent any access outside the judges (who, as I said, would only score but would not be able to see their previous scoring).

Think about it, but I think this would really be a step forward...

is the objective to not let the judges look back at the scores of the previous rounds they scored, or not be able to change it?

EDIT: forget it, I read it too fast the first time :good

    No that sounds gay

What we need is younger judges about in their late 20s - 40s.

I cant stand old ass judges... Old people can't cope with todays world as well as they used to. Its kinda hard to explain.

You ever take a look at how some of them judges look like? Like Adalaide Byrd for example. That woman has bigger glasses than that kid from A Christmas Story.

How the **** is that woman a judge?

That's an excellent idea. Although it probably wont mean an end to controversial decisions, it would make it more obvious if there isn't "fair play".

One of the things that I'd love to see is another round added on if things end up as a draw. Like extra innings basically.

    Gimme some...

...k, every system has its leaks but it is still way, way better than pen and paper scoring and the judges being allowed to have their previous scoring infront of them...

...it would not give losing fighters and also journalists the excuse of a running scoring...

Another addition: b/c journalists (like me) have sometimes direct contact to the judges (sitting beside them/behind them), the supervising organisation has to assign them seats behind the officals table and send out some kind of bodyguard to every judges to prevent contact to any other person. SO judges would sit alone and would have no influence from the outside...

    not even there... :D

Think about it, IMO it's a good way to let people accept the judges scoring and not crying "robbery!"...

i think its a damn good idea and one of the sanctioning bodies should do a trial run for a 2 months or so and see how it goes

With how many ESBers complain about German judges, you'd think this thread would be on fire by now.

Any step further away from open scoring is a good one.

Hearing Harold Lederman swearing as he tries to work the buttons would be fun, too. "I've got it five roun- wait, I can't remember what I scored for round 1. Where's the backspace?! I hate computers... Jim!"

They could just go back to fighting until someone gets knocked out or quits.

We just need oversight that weeds out judges who make bad decisions. A commission that evaluates fights after the fact and disciplines judges who are obviously scoring fights incorrectly would go a long way into fixing this ****.

Make them have to explain themselves. Have those ****ers who cheat a boxer explain HOW and WHY they scored a fight a certain way... instead of hiding like cowards and never saying a word.
