I'm very excited and very proud of my homie and i still remember him always showing up to our old boxing gym when he was younger working hard.He started from the bottom and now he's here. When you teach somebody not to go down the wrong path and polish their boxing skills anything is possible. I got a facebook tag yesterday from him and he told me about it and i was happy as hell, so make sure you guys watch and let me know what you think.

There is no active middleweight listed by that name from Puerto Rico.

    Is Melendez American?

Tim dropped nick from his stable and contract early last year when nick told him he wanted to a boxer and not a brawler that he made him out to be.Nick called me and my brother to train him for a while, but he's young and wanted to make money and sign with a promoter and me and my brother jobs so we said it was cool, but we gave him his confidence and he uses the style we taught him and he beat the veteran jose medina last time out who gave many top fighters problems.I moved out of ny state also so we keep in touch on facebook and phone to keep in touch.

    Oh, Jorge Melendez.

What happened to Luis Grajeda? :huh He was listed as Melendez's opponent as recently as Monday.

So your pupil is on extremely short notice with a big puncher. :think

He showed decent power in both hands, far better technique and fundamentals than Melendez, and great heart to come up off the canvas from a very hard knockdown where he was almost waved off.

I heard on the broadcast he once beat Errol Spence Jr. in the amateurs? That's quite something! Any other big names?

That's a fat US heavy. You mean Escalera. That was on Shobox too, iirc.

Great job by Brinson, schooled the guy the whole way through, however that 4th was extra hairy.

    :rofl Funny, but harsh write-off.

He gave Adamek some problems, and Povetkin to a lesser extent. Close shave with then-unbeaten Travis Walker.

    Beat a few solid journeymen.

Considering the state of the division (and particularly in our country) it's reasonable to say he's been a top 10-15 US heavy.

I remember that. It was a draw actually.

    :nod

They met in the amateurs? That ShoBox meeting last year ended in a split draw.

The amateurs is more what I meant, stuff that most of us wouldn't know or be able to see on Boxrec.

    Spence is an impressive scalp.
