I hope we get to see the fight. It would be great for boxing:good

Exactly. Hatton has already looked shakey at 147, whilst Mayweather is largely unproven. Boxing logic would tell you Mayweather is more suited to stepping up in weight than Ricky Hatton. These are not excuses, but factors

The main factor was Mayweather being better at boxing, and Hatton walking forward waving his fists around

The side points are that Hatton is not a 147lb fighter, and that Joe Cortez should be ****ed off with immediate effect

Floyd is one of those fighters whose physique, athletic ability and fighting style have enabled him to move through the weights with no problem.
Ricky is completely different. He is clearly at his peak at one weight, and that is light welterweight. This is not an excuse, it's a fact. Mayweather would still have won at 140, it just would have been a lot harder.

What do you think that Cortez did that was so wrong? The only thing that bothered me about his ref'ing was when he warned Ricky after the 8th that he was considering stopping the fight. Ricky took some big bombs in that round but was clearly fighting back and there was no reason to even consider a stoppage at that point. Other than that I don't see what was so bad.

His "predictions" of clinches that were about to take place particularly wound me up

Predictions, or him being a dozey old ****

This sort of thing is subjective, because it depends what you consider to be fair game, but I thought he was far too fussy in general. He just looked like he wanted to steal the show from the outset

Was letting them clinch for too long when there was no action and when there was some inside fighting particularly from Hatton he was seperating them, simply inconsistent, slow reaction.

Well clearly this thread is not directed at you. Just the people making excused. I've lost count of how many times I've seen "great win by floyd...but"
