    My recurring dream...

I would first like to say that this is an unimportant thread. It is really just about a recurring dream I have that I would like to share with some fellow boxing fans.

Lately, I have been dreaming that I am watching Harry Greb fight. It's not in person, always black and white footage, like from the era of which he fought. In the dreams, he fights in a style that I often imagine. Aggressive, yet elusive.

In the first dream, I believe he was fighting Tiger Flowers. Greb just kept coming foward, but not in a reckless, Ricky Hatton fashion. No. It was a "perpetual motion machine" type of movement. He had great, but awkward defense. Dipping down as he throws his shots, rarely getting hit cleanly. This experience was cut short as I awoke and soon realized that "it was all a dream", as Biggie Smalls would say.

As for the second dream, I'm not exactly sure who Greb's opponent was. He was a caucasian fighter, a little taller than Greb. It definitely wasn't Gene Tunney. Greb fought in the same style that I mentioned earlier and was successful in doing so. He came in fast, in constant motion, practically landing at will. The funny thing about this dream is I actually realized I was dreaming. During the dream, I suddenly thought to myself, "wait a minute, none of this guy's fights can be seen". So, instead of waking myself up and dealing with the heartbreaking reality of no Harry Greb fight footage, I just continued watching the fight as if it were all real. This must seem crazy, but then again, to you die-hard boxing fans, it probably doesn't.

If any of you have any interesting boxing dreams that you would like to share, I would love to read about them. I recently dreamt that I saw Shane Mosley sitting in what appeared to be a little t-shirt stand or something. I wanted to get his autograph, but every piece of paper I could find was either too wrinkled, ragged or thin. I just couldn't find any paper that was autograph quality. Before I knew it, he was gone. Gone, just like the fight footage of the legendary Pittsburgh Windmill, that so many boxing fans and aficionados would give their life savings to see. What a shame.

Not bad, I dont smoke it like I used to though, just from time to time. Cant say I've ever had recurring dreams though even under the influence, I've had what I consider 'premonition' dreams of things to come, for example I dreamt Mayweather would beat Pacquiao but the fight hasnt even come off so that shows just how psychic I am.

:think You're very interesting. Anyways dreams are dreams and are not always based on reality sadly because some dreams are cool.

Realising you're dreaming in a dream is called lucid dreaming. My friend used to bang on about his lucid dreaming all the time, he said after the first few he started attempting to 'go lucid', and then he could go lucid at will, then he could make ANYTHING appear, do anything in his dream, bring up any scenario, wake himself up at will, and eventually claimed to have predicted a murder seen in his dream the night before. He would never shut the **** up about his dreams. I think theyre a load of bull****.

I think what happened to you was real and mustve been weird as hell..but all im saying by telling you this story is dont look up lucid dreaming on the internet and start reading up on lucid forums, because theres like a cult of lucid dreamers who are obsessed with controlling their dreams, and they'll suck you in and give you training methods, and theyre all bat **** crazy.

Yeah it's not an all day long thing for me either, haha. I can't believe I am talking about this on a message board, but anyway. My wife does a lot of research on premonitions and things of that nature. I can't say that I have ever had any experiences like that, so I can't really relate. Though, I do believe these things can be real.

I think Mayweather will beat Pacquiao if they ever fight, but I haven't had any dreams about it. As far as the dreams that I have related to boxing, I don't place any importance on them, I just find them interesting. Especially, the Greb ones, because there is no known fight footage of him. And, it is actually quite self-explanatory as to why I have these dreams. I have been studying a lot on Greb and want to buy his book, though I haven't had the extra cash as of late.

Oh yeah, I am in no way trying to get that deep into it. That's just crazy. Insightful post though. I just enjoyed seeing Greb in action, or at least the dream of it. Yeah, I am not a big dream crazy guy, just a boxing fan who has been wanting to see some Greb fights.

Huh? i'm genuinely warning the guy.

And Duran is overrated. You want to stay away from only the truth, because it hurts, 16 times, makes you quit.

Thank you. Yeah I agree, dreams are dreams. Sometimes they have meaning and sometimes they are just wondering of the mind. In this case, to me, it is clearly wondering of the mind. It is because I often wonder what exactly Greb looked like in action. I have a vivid idea in my mind though. Of course, I'm not saying that what I imagine is right.

yeah man was just warning you, i know it sounds silly, but it was progressive. All he did all day was read lucid forums all day and watched clips on it of people talking, and he spent a grand on these flashing goggle things you wear at night. And it was ALL he ever spoke about. It was pretty sad tbh, hes a good mate of mine

You've got me all wrong, I'm not fussed either way about Duran but your hatred of him amuses me.
