1lehudsons bull**** IBF heavyweights 5 of top 10 from the US NONE from the UK cruisers 4 of the top 10 From US 1 title holder None from the UK 1 title holder lt heavyweight 6 of top 10 from US 1 title holder None from the UK 1 title holder supermiddle 2 of top 10 from US None from uk 1 title holder middle 3 of top 10 from US 1 title holder 1 from UK None title holders superwelters 5 of top 10 from US 1 title holder 0 from UK 0 titler holders Welters 6 of top 10 from US 2 title holders 1 of top 10 from UK 0 title holders I was going to do the other three but after that one its really pointless. Boxing in the UK isnt close to that of the US. Having four fighters holding belts at one time doesnt make you a boxing superpower. Floyd proved that Hatton wasnt really a truely elite fighter. I wouldnt be shocked to see Hopkins do the same to Calzaghe. Haye is a knockout waiting to happen as a heavyweight.... Not really sure who you see as the fourth GREAT fighter from the UK....Woods maybe??? Witter??? :huh OH wait Kahn right. My point is simple 60 million people in the UK and a hand full of fighters to back...You are either a fan of Hatton Calzaghe, Witter, Woods, Froch, Haye or kahn and really thats it. That is a shade under 10 million per fighter US 300 million to be a fan of Mayweather, Hopkins, Jones, Mosley, Delahoya, Judah, Tarver, Dawson, Lacy, Taylor, Pavlik, Wright, Forrest, Williams, cintron, Juan Diaz, Campbell, Rahman, Chambers, Brock, Arroela. Flores, Banks, Bell, cunningham, Byrd, Powell, Spinks, Simms, Phillips, Berto, Collazo. those are all either title holders or ranked in the top 10. More to choice from farther to travel to see them fight, higher ticket prices all equal to fewer butts in sets. Not to mention that the Boxing fans are a very small percentage in the States anymore. Boxing barely in the top 10 most popular sports here. Well behind things that arent even sports like Nascar, and Bowling. We have more bowling on TV now then Boxing.
My reply.... Ah, here we are. First off, lets forget the rankings, as we all know they are inconsistent and biased to certain continents. Lets move onto champions, and i don't mean no interim bull**** either. Heavyweights - America 0 Great Britain 0 Cruiserweights - America ( Steve Cunningham IBF) Great Britain (David Haye WBA, WBO WBC, Ring champion) Light Heavyweight - America (Chad Dawson WBC, Bernard Hopkins Ring champion) Great Britian ( Clinton Woods IBF) Super Middleweight - America 0 Great Britian (Joe Calzaghe WBO, WBA, WBC, Ring champion) Middleweight - America (Kelly Pavlik WBO, WBC, Ring champion) Great Britain 0 Light Middleweight - America - (Vernon Forrest WBC, Verno Philllips IBF) Great Britain 0 Welterweight America (Floyd Mayweather Jr, WBC, Ring champion) Great Britian 0 Light Welterweight - America (Paulie Malignaggi IBF) Great Britian (Ricky Hatton Ring champion, Juniour Witter WBC) Lightweight - America (Nate Cambell WBO, WBA, IBF, David Diaz WBC) Great Britain 0 Featherweight - America (Steve Lueveno WBO, Robert Guerrero IBF) Great Britain 0 None of us have any champions below these weight divisions so lets just leave it at that. By my reckoning, that gives you 12 champions to our 5, as you have a population 5 times the size of ours, i'd say Great Britian OWNS America in a pound for pound sense, wouldn't you agree? Its also 3-3 when it comes down to ring champions, you can take this however you wan't, but the Ring champion means the man of the division to me. So, you own 3 divisions, and we own 3 divisions, again, with 5 times the population, you should be owning us here, but its EVEN! The list of boxers you gave for people to be a fan of is laughable. Im not even going to get into that, anyone can name names and say oh, we have to be a fan of these aswell as the main guys. Farther to travel? Where the **** are you getting this from? You guys never even leave your home town to go and see one of your own, we travel thousands of miles, for any of our top fighters. You guys sell 20000 tickets for a superfight, over here it would sell triple them figures, and in half the time. As for boxing fans being a small percentage of the population in the US, thats true unfortunatly, but its just the same here. You have far more boxing fans in the US than we do in the UK. That point doesn't stand up im afraid. As for boxing not being in the top 10 over there, its not much higher over here. We have football, Cricket, Tennis, Rugby League, Rugby Union and others. Just accept it, Britain OWNS the US in a pound for pound perspective, and our fans **** all over yours from a great height, especially when it comes to loyalty. Im done for now. If you wan't to debate any of the points i've thrown across, then im going to be here all day :good If anybody else has anything to add to help educate this idiot, then please go ahead.
Who are the five American heavyweights in the top ten? :? I didnt really read further than that, but it looks like nickthegreek has comprehensively shredded the OP anyway.
