looks like he would have lost without the knockout. taylor needs to learn how to clinch when he's hurt. one good clinch and he would be the champ right now.
I picked Taylor by UD, and I'll still pick any of the top SMWs to beat Froch. Taylor, the much smaller fighter, was 3 minutes from being champion. A big SMW like Kessler or Bute, or even Andrade, wouldn't cave under Froch's pressure.
Great comeback by Froch! Just wish he would learn SOME defense. Blocking punches ain't against the rules.
i'd love to see Froch-Andrade at some point in the next year. These guys aren't great, but they are come forward, relentless, and pack a punch. On the other hand, Calzaghe would decimate Froch. That fight should never happen.
The man needs to learn to stop getting hurt first! Clinching comes later. Carl Froch and Kelly Pavlik both managed to knock him out him with just a straight down the pipe 1-2 and a pair of balls, neither of those men were as skilled as him and they still beat him. His stamina is terrible, and he can't fight off the back foot at all. So when he fights someone like Pavlik or Froch, he gets the better of the earlier exchanges, then gets worn down later in the fight. It's not like they did anything spectacular in terms of skill to beat him! Where's the head-movement from Jermain to avoid the right hands? Where's the sideways movement? He can throw great counter-shots, and he landed a few tonight, but why can't he keep it up for 12 rounds? I respect Taylor he's a proven fighter, but he's lost to guys he should've beaten because of this. He lacks nothing in terms of skill, it's other attributes that are letting him down. He'd be elite p4p material if he could resolve these problems.
