With Wladimir Klitchko's victory over Eddie Chambers came the usual bashing of American heavyweights as a whole. Did we forget about Wlad's wins over Ruslan Chagaev who he forced into corner retirement after 9 rounds what about Sultan Ibragimov? Who he won a convincing decision over. Than there is Wlad's brother Vitali who has wins over non American boxers such as Juan Carlos Gomez and Samuel Peter who he stoped in 9 and 8 rounds respectively. My point is that the brothers Klitchko are acatuly pretty good boxers and that no matter where their opoents are from they are going to have a hard time beating them. Not Just the Americans.
I agree with you. The reason it happens is that when two guys are that head and shoulders above the competition, the only thing left to discredit them is to make the competition appear as horrible as possible. Haters don't care how much they disrespect the Chambers, Peters, and Chagaevs of boxing- just as long as they can make the Klitschkos look that much worse. It's the same reason people always say any decent 90's heavyweight would be sure to beat the exact same competition in easier fashion than the Klitschkos regardless of how realistic that actually is.
Hey, I completely agree the Klitschko bros are a cut above the rest, BUT the American Heavyweight scene has been shot for a while. I mean what have been some of our most recent belt holders, Shannon Briggs, Chris Byrd and John Ruiz? Lennox Lewis steam rolls them all in the same night.
chambers had no one else to fight but one of the brothers. too bad they are just that much better than the contenders. fighting anyone else would have been a backward step.
