He stepped up inclass once against Jermain Taylor and since then has fought Gary Lockett. We'll see to what extent he has improved if he fights a live opponent like Joe Calzaghe or Abraham.

You don't think Miranda was a step up in class? He was widely expected to lose that fight.

I didn't call you a "peice of **** stoner". These are all your words. The only reason I know you smoke marijuana is you've opened threads about it in the classic section.

I smoke it too on occasion.

I've no idea what your problem is. You've seem to think i'm after on a personal level, you certainly seem to be after me on a personal level.

To be clear - I have nothing against you personally. I don't think you're a peice of ****, stoned or otherwise. I brought up drugs because the rants you've went on about my failure to live up to my parents expectations, your sway over the youth (apparently not in full effect until my imminent death, and that of Teeto) seemed inexplicable if you were straight, and I know you've posted drugged in the past.

I do think you're opinions on boxing are extraordinarily biased.

I've said previously that I'm not overly impressed with either Miranda or Abraham. Pavlik is the best at MW by a long way but for me he either needs someone else to come through at the weight or move up and fight Kessler to prove he's the real deal.

I think Pavlik does have all the tools to become a true world class fighter, but at the moment he has nobody to test that against.

Also - someone said earlier that they see Pavlik as the new Gatti only better - for what its worth I thought Gatti was underrated. Pavlik has the ability to match Gatti in terms of ability and if he surpasses him then he will be truly world class!

I agree with this, although 20 defences at MW would obviously carry serious clout even if there are no great names - but I think the size issue might force him up sooner rather than later anyway. He looks huge.

Yeah I'm not doubting he's good, just cant say how good at the moment. Similar to Calzaghe before Kessler/Hopkins.

As for his size, yeah he is huge! But I havent read anywhere that he struggles to make the weight? I could be wrong there. It is possible that he's just a freak of a MW. If that was the case I wouldnt blame him if he decided to stay there.

I personally hope he stays at 160, i wouldnt mind another ATG MW! Though we would probably be spoilt to get another so quickly. Not saying that he WILL be the next ATG 160er, but i like him. I dont normally take to fighters like this, but i like how he has hart in abundance.

Staying at 160 though... does that acheive 'greatness' Teeto?

    Just playing devil's advocate

I think it can do, i understand it is very great to move through divisions and do well when disadvantaged. But for example, Mayweather would still be the greatest super-feather even if he didnt move up imo, still great.

And i know Duran anhanced his greatness immensely with the Leonard win and then some after that, but his work at 135 would qualify him as great still imo

Suppose best example is Hagler at MW. But can Kelly be that good? Easiest way for him to acheive his legacy imo is to step up to SMW at some point and then even possibly beyond

Yea, you're right in that sense, it would take a lot more convincing and time for that matter, to prove to be an ATG at 160, he might not be that good.

I hate the way we have to use words like 'might', because boxing is so unpredictable!!

I haven't heard anything either; I think you may be right - I mean it's not as if he looks dangerously drained or underweight, even at the weight in, and he certainly didn't fade in any meaningful way when he fought Taylor the second time.

    We shall see I guess...

It's no surprise Sergio Martinez is being picked by some on ESB Classic to beat greats like Tony Zale when you recall all this "Kelly Pavlik hype" of 3 years ago.

Classic forum has an undeserved reputation for dogging on current fighters, but as far as middleweights go, it's got a good recent record of hyping them up.

    :good
