[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-yfZBQNW4I[/ame] yes im fat yes i like Aerosmith yes philly shell isn't beginners yes im untrained yes my form is horrible however, i'm hoping to try and pick up at least 1-2 good habits BEFORE i start training...try not to judge when I squat down, I had knee surgery like a week and a half ago. I know Philly Shell isn't the preferred defense for beginners, but really, I just want to see what I'm doing right/wrong in regards to the defense part (not me throwing ******ed jabs). i know it sucks, but note that i realize it sucks and i know boxing on your own, especially with a defense as complex as the Philly Shell, is bad. however, hopefully you enjoy watching someone embarrass themselves :bbb
TERRIBLE!!!No point in practasing at home alone becuase you will pic upbad habits that you will waste time on getting rid of. Philly shell is for slick boxers with good reflexes. You don't have the build to be slick Now to not sound like a dick. Shrug your left shoulder upwards so your chin is tucked in behind your shoulder. Atm you don't have a Philly shell you just got your right hand by your dick
That's the thing though, I won't be able to join a gym for quite a while because of knee injuries...fuuuuuuuck. And usually it's my left hand by my dick :smoke But yeah, no offense taken, I acknowledged in the OP it sucks and I'm fat, so nothing people say will really offend me. Nothing really, I'm just bored...
Fair enough I guess. You seem like a sound bloke even if you suck. Nah just kidding, I'm not the best either and everyone sucks with no training. Get yourself a punch bag, you'll have more fun being able to hit something.
Got nowhere to hang it But, I do have a dummy, but there's no sand anywhere, and I have no hose, so I can't fill it But yeah, for anyone that doesn't read the text, I'm just kidding around, so calm down But hopefully my knee gets better soon so I can get some training in at a good boxing gym. Anyone know any near Canton, OH? Like within 15 minutes?
I know you got your mind set on the shell defence, but I guarantee as soon as you get hit in the mouth, you will put both hands up and ball up in a turtle shell when some starts a flurry of combos on you..lol.. I see it everytime the new guy gets his first chance to spar.. Oh.. And work on that jab.. It looked like it was slow motion.
Yeah, I know I gotta work on the jab, hopefully a boxing trainer can help me with that :bbb As for the defense, I'm not set on it, I just find it very interesting. If I was allowed to experiment with it, I realize that you WILL get hit A LOT when first using it, so I wouldn't give up on it. I'm not one of those kids who's just saying that, I really don't stop until I do something right. When people say "oh as soon as you get hit", I just look at some other great users of the Philly Shell who struggled with it at first. Obviously the object is to deflect most of the power with the shoulder roll, but I know it takes lots of practice. I'm not afraid to get hit in the mouth if it helps be become a better boxer. However, I'm assuming my coach will teach a high guard defense anyways.
You'd be better getting the basics and the standard guard down first. Then go from there. even look at Floyd, He's not using the Philly shell the whole time when he fights and I'm sure even he learned the standard guard first. :good
Props for posting man :thumbsup. To the guys who are posting saying you suck I would like to see a video from them doing it better :deal
