I hope I didn't come off as someone who doesn't listen. I'm just doing this to **** around right now while I can't workout or box. When I join a boxing gym, obviously I'll use a high guard. I know I'm not better than trained fighters, and I agree that, especially with my injuries, I'll have to work ten times harder than the other guys. Hopefully I'm not coming off as a cocky know-it-all new guy, cause I'm not, and I acknowledge that fact.
Stop the madness my man. Your rear hand is way too low. You are also not committing to keeping your shoulder facing the opponent. Also, just looking at your body mechanics, you are not fast enough to pull this off. Learn how to Box normally first then see what you can "get away with" from the fancy side. Not knowing will get you KTFO.
Obviously I won't use the Philly Shell when I start to box. But isn't the point of the Philly Shell to have your lead hand low?
Philly shell is a terrible defence for amatuer. Judges will see the shots that land on your shoulder weird sometimes and think they landed clean. And if you are really really going to use this defence, keep that right hand touching your chin, the left hand in a flat line across your stomach and most importantly - and the bit you seem to be forgetting in this - keep that left shoulder forwards with your chin into it, atleast untill you get better at the style. But don't train with this at home before going to the gym or you will get bad habits which will be insanely difficult to use. Oh, and when your coach screams at you in the ring to get your hands up, don't do what i did and pretend you know better, it's a bad idea. You will end up losing alot of decisions you think you deserved to win aswell.
Dude is just ****in around, let him be. Good laugh. As long as you don't take this up as a habit and start ingraining severely fundamentally unsound habits into your body movements, no harm done. Otherwise you'll have to unlearn everything just to not get knocked the **** out in your first sparring session.
This is what I'm saying. I'd be lying if I said once I get a few YEARS of experience, I wouldn't want to try the Philly Shell, but I just was ****ing around in this video. I know I suck.
I swear, people's reading comprehension is very poor nowadays. I AM NOT PLANNING ON DOING THIS AT ANY GYM, I'M JUST ****ING AROUND.
