Well, not every 8-4 decision is the same. The way that Martinez comprehensively dominated the last 4 rounds lends more credence to "Pavlik got his ass beat" than a normal 8-4 decision. The decision rendered was relatively close (115-112, 115-111) but very, very clear. The physical toll taken between the two fighters wasn't very close at all though.
Hmmmm your logic is a little flawed. Martinez didnt dominate but he did win comprehensively imo! He appeared to take some rounds off which imo let Pavlik back in, where as the first few rounds Pavlik just couldn't seem to get into it and the later rounds went on a mental walk abouts! I think that if Pavlik even got a draw THAT would have been a robbery. Next you will be saying that Hatton got robbed vs Pacquiao?
If Pavlik had any kind of cut man he would have won the fight. Bad luck, and a bad corner. Martinez never hurt Pavlik in the fight. Martinez was very wobbly in the middle rounds.
The HBO commentary was disgraceful in that fight. Martinez lands 10 shots and there is silence, Pavilk barely lands a right hand and Lampley screams "HARD RIGHT HAND BY PAVLIK!"atsch
ROBBERY?? Ya right...I had Martinez winning this fight 8-4 I believe.. Sergio owned him the entire night.. Schooling, I would say so.
The game plan was to go to the body. Why Kelly didn't was his 'game time' decision. I'm sure Martinez had something to do with that. His sparring partners had told him to 'just land anywhere you can because it hurts'. He mentioned this pre-fight. You can't lay that on Loew.
